We are looking for a strategic and innovative Vice President of Capability Driven Architecture to lead our architecture initiatives and ensure alignment with our business capabilities. Reporting to the Chief Product and Technology Officer (CPTO), this role will be instrumental in driving architectural excellence, working closely with executive leadership to ensure that architectural strategies align with organizational goals and promote agility, efficiency and innovation.
What you will do:

Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive capability-driven architecture strategy that aligns with the overall business strategy and enhances operational efficiency. Lead the adoption of architecture best practices and capability modelling across the organization.

Architecture Framework: Design and establish a robust architecture framework that supports the organization’s capabilities and enables agility in response to market changes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with key stakeholders across business units and product management to identify and prioritize capability needs, ensuring that architecture decisions support strategic goals.

Governance and Standards: Establish governance processes and standards for architecture, ensuring compliance with best practices and industry standards. Conduct regular architecture reviews to ensure adherence to standards and identify areas of improvement.

Technology Oversight: Evaluate emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in capability-driven architecture. Drive innovation within the architecture team to leverage new technologies for business advantage.

Team Leadership Development: Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing architecture team. Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional development.

Performance Metrics: Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to architecture initiatives, using data to assess the effectiveness of architecture decisions and drive improvements.

What you will bring to Coupa:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.

Experience: 10+ years of experience in IT architecture, with a focus on capability-driven approaches; at least 5 years in a leadership role.

Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of architectural frameworks and methodologies. Proficient in cloud technologies, microservices, APIs, and enterprise architecture tools.

Strategic Vision: Proven ability to develop and implement strategic architecture initiatives that drive business outcomes and enhance operational efficiency.

Leadership Skills: Exceptional leadership and team management capabilities, with experience in building and leading high-performing teams.

Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on data-driven decision-making and performance optimization.

The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:
•Based in Bay Area, California: $283,000 - 333,000
The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the state.
