Role summary
Responsible for carrying out vehicle dynamics advanced simulation activities to support attributes development programs.
Responsibilities
Perform complete vehicle and suspension simulations to provide direction to the chassis development programs, while minimizing the need for physical testing.
The main responsibilities of this role will be:
- Build chassis and complete vehicle models
- Perform virtual simulations to evaluate suspension kinematics & compliance and complete vehicle handling & ride comfort.
- Optimise chassis parameters in order to meet performance targets
- Prepare/write project reports
- Presentation of project results and support decision making
To support project management and commercial actions:
- Presentation of project proposals and project results to customers
- Management of client communication and reporting
Technical qualifications
- B.S. or higher in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 1-3 years of experience in automotive chassis development with a focus on Vehicle Dynamics.
- Knowledge of vehicle dynamics theory and contributions from individual components— hardpoints, steering, springs, bars, dampers, tires, bushings, etc.—to suspension K&C and full-vehicle performance.
- Basic understanding of the performance development process, from target setting and target cascading to validation and sign-off.
- Vehicle dynamics simulation experience with multi-body (ADAMS) and/or lookup tables-based models (VI-CarRealTime, IPG CarMaker, CarSim, etc)
- Data post-processing skills.
- Basic knowledge of programming with Matlab and/or Python.
