Position Summary:
As the hands-on Manager of User Experience overseeing the Catalog experience, you will be responsible for leading a small team of UX designers, defining the end to end shopping funnel, and ensuring the seamless interaction of our customers with our digital products. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Product Management, Development, Marketing, and Customer Support to deliver user-centric solutions that drive engagement, conversion, and customer satisfaction.
Location: This is a remote role, with a preferred location in Southern California. Occasional travel to our Southern California office might be required.
Job Expectations:
Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of UX designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Be a player-coach, who can also do hands-on design when needed
Prioritize and execute the overall UX strategy for our e-commerce platforms, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer needs.
When needed, assist with research, usability testing, and user journey mapping to gain insights and identify opportunities for improving the user experience.
Translate user insights and business requirements into user-centered design solutions, considering user interface design, interaction design, and visual design principles.
Collaborate closely with Product Managers and Developers to ensure the successful implementation of design solutions while maintaining a balance between user needs, technical constraints, and business objectives.
Collaborate with the design system team, help define guidelines, and standards to ensure a consistent and cohesive user experience across all platforms and touchpoints.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in UX/UI design and e-commerce to drive continuous improvement.
Advocate for user-centered design principles throughout the organization, fostering a user-centric mindset and creating a culture of design excellence.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Information Architecture, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
Proven experience with 1-3 years in leading UX/UI design teams, ideally within the e-commerce or digital product space.
Strong portfolio showcasing successful mobile UX/UI projects, highlighting your ability to solve complex design challenges and create user-friendly solutions.
Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, or similar tools.
In-depth knowledge of user-centered design processes, methodologies, and best practices.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate design concepts and rationale to stakeholders.
Strong leadership and team management skills, including the ability to inspire, mentor, and guide a diverse team of designers.
Familiarity with front-end development principles and collaboration with development teams.
A strategic mindset, with the ability to balance user needs, business goals, and technical constraints.
Additional Preferred Skills:
Experience working in a global or multicultural e-commerce environment.
Knowledge of accessibility standards and guidelines (WCAG) for creating inclusive digital experiences.
Experience with data-driven design and A/B testing methodologies.
