You’ll be playing a key role in supporting StrideUp to achieve its growth ambitions by working with the Head of Underwriting, and other key stakeholders of StrideUp, to bring to life a new finance option of Buy To Let finance to our customers. 

We are looking for an  Underwriter whose expertise and dedication will facilitate the realisation of homeownership dreams,  while upholding the highest standards of risk assessment and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with all stakeholders of StrideUp to establish a new finance stream for Buy To Let Applications
  • Propose processes and procedures for BTL applications
  • Review the BTL policy, and challenge the status quo to provide the best possible outcomes for our customers
  • Work with the Head of Underwriting to train/coach/share knowledge to all Underwriters to ensure consistency of Underwriting and interpretation of the Credit Policy
  • Accurately assess customer eligibility and risk factors associated with each Buy To Let or  Residential Home Purchase Plan application
  • Make well-informed underwriting decisions based on the credit policy and underwriting guidelines and where appropriate provide the correct decision, including the declining of an application
  • Maintain a pipeline of both BTL and Residential applications from Valuation through to Offer 

Requirements

  • Held and maintained a lending mandate of at least £500,000
  • Minimum of 5 years Underwriting experience (Buy To Let & Residential Mortgage)
  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g. MCOB and Responsible Lending) and BTL/mortgage  industry awareness.
  • Experience of managing a pipeline of cases
  • Working knowledge of: analysing information held at CRA, reviewing valuation /surveys and taking appropriate action where required, AML, DPA & Fraud prevention
  • Working in an environment where service levels and productivity are key
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Work with facts and evidence not assumptions
