Under general supervision performs diagnostic non-invasive ultrasound procedures, providing pertinent anatomical and functional data for the Radiologist's interpretation. Assist Radiologists with invasive procedures.

Department Specific Competencies
- Performs all clinical and diagnostic procedures for geriatric, adult, adolescent and pediatric patients according to department policy and procedure.
- Performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures as outlined in the Department Policy and Procedure Manual.
- Performs portable procedures in high stress environments includes Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery, Labor Room, Intensive Care Units, Surgery Suite and Emergency Room.
- Performs acquisition and analysis of extensive statistical data complied in non-invasive vascular procedures. Note: Vascular Laboratory incorporated within the Ultrasound Department.
- Assists physicians utilizing ultrasound in the performance of special procedures involving aspirations, biopsies and for guidance of needle placement procedures.
- Maintains proper sterile techniques for procedures; regularly practices aseptic techniques and strictly obeys isolation and infection control procedures; prevents cross contamination during procedures.
- Follows cleaning and high level disinfection of semi-critical devices, policy and procedures.
- Assists and supports a new or transferred employee through a planned orientation.
- Utilizes LEAN methodology to improve work flow processes for increased quality of patient care and improved outcomes.
- Assumes On-Call responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor.
