Ubiquiti Network Engineer

Here at HostiFi we're building a team of the most talented Ubiquiti Network Engineers in the world. 

We've created software products and services which generate over $3M/year in revenue and serve thousands of Ubiquiti customers each month - all as a small fully remote team working together from USA, UK, and India.

We're looking for a very specific special person to join our team, please only apply if the following describes you extremely well.

  • You're a huge Ubiquiti fan and are an active participant in the community forum, Facebook Groups, Reddit or the Discord
  • You create Ubiquiti content for the community like blog posts, YouTube videos, GitHub code or are a contributor to ubntwiki
  • You've attended Ubiquiti training, are a Ubiquiti trainer, or are certified by Ubiquiti
  • You've either worked for Ubiquiti, an MSP that installs Ubiquiti equipment, or a WISP which uses Ubiquiti equipment
  • You run a UniFi or UISP server for your home network
  • You use Slack, Teams, or Discord daily
  • You've worked with a fully remote team before
  • You prefer written communication over "jumping on a quick call"
  • You frequently do IT projects outside of work
  • You personally prefer MacBook and iPhone over Windows and Android

Requirements

Technical skills required

  • You're comfortable configuring or troubleshooting absolutely anything in either UniFi or UISP or both
  • You have experience with large WiFi deployments in stadiums, schools, or warehouses and are comfortable with wireless frequency planning and optimization, WiFi heat maps, network documentation
  • You can configure and troubleshoot all types of VPN connections in UniFi and UISP for example, client, site-to-site, OpenVPN, WireGuard, L2TP, IPSec
  • You know the differences between Ubiquiti product lines inside and out, can explain why someone might want to choose one product over another depending on the deployment and budget requirements

People skills required

  • You've recently worked in a small business in a customer facing role
  • You're comfortable regularly talking on the phone or on video calls with customers
  • You can listen to customers more than you talk and ask the right questions to understand their needs, and you can translate their budget and technical requirements into product recommendations and network plans
  • You would enjoy working with a fully remote team where Slack or writing as our primary communication method, and as a team we rarely have phone calls, meetings, or in-person meet ups

Education

  • 7th grade preferred - the best writers use 7th grade level or lower for readability, simple writers are appreciated
  • High school education - not required
  • College degree - not required
  • Ubiquiti certifications - preferred
