Trocaire Rwanda is looking for a highly motivated finance assistant, who is willing to learn fast and contribute to our organizational financial management system. We are looking for candidates with a University background (minimum of Bachelor degree) and that are motivated to join our dynamic organization.

Background to the role
Trócaire works in partnership with local and church organisations, supporting communities in over 17 countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East to bring about lasting change. As the official overseas development agency of the Irish Catholic Church, Trócaire has worked in Rwanda since 1994. For the period 2023-2027, Trócaire in Rwanda will work in 6 Districts with 13 national and local partners. Trócaire Rwanda is a leader in and seeks to remain a key player in localisation and local organisation/partner capacity strengthening efforts in Rwanda, in line with the country strategy and Trócaire’s global partnership and localization strategy (2021-2025).
In addition, Trócaire Rwanda works on two core programmatic pillars: Climate and Environmental Justice, which includes climate change and climate justice, agriculture, access to markets, disaster risk reduction, emergency response and livelihoods work. Trócaire’s climate and environmental justice work also includes resilience building of communities to better withstand and recover from natural and/or climate change-related disasters.
The second core pillar of work, Supporting Women and Girl’s Protection, Voice and Leadership, works on the prevention of sexual and gender-based violence, positive social gender norm change, women’s economic empowerment, and increasing women’s voice and influence.
Trócaire delivers works exclusively with local partners and actively supports localised development and humanitarian aid. Supporting local civil society organisations to strengthen their organisational, institutional, financial, technical, and managerial capacities is core to Trócaire’s partnership approach.
Reporting to the Finance Officer, this is a fixed-term two-year contract based in Kigali, Rwanda.
Requirements
Posting daily transaction in system by respecting the fund codes and budget lines.
Preparing all payments and ensuring that we have enough provision on our bank accounts.
Reconcile transactions posted in the system with the bank statements.
Share monthly reports with respective budget holders for checking the accuracy of the transactions posted in system.
Filing all finance documents on time by respecting different ledgers and categories of transactions.
Provides purchase codes requested by different suppliers.
Preparing monthly inventory reports of office supplies, first aid kits and kitchen supplies.
Raising requisition of supplies on time for keeping minimum security stock in place
Receiving goods and supplies and record it on the inventory reports on time.
Conduct monthly physical check of goods and supplies
Support the Finance officer in preparing for different audits organised at country level.
Keeping the register of suppliers by reporting on monthly basis the form shared by RRA
Manage our online petty cash system and prepare cash reconciliation at the end of the month.
Monitor pending staff floats and flag to the respective line manager outstanding floats that need a follow up.
Other tasks as requested by the line manager, the Finance and Administrative Manager, and/or the Country Director
Qualification
Experience
· A good understanding of finance management and using several accounting software.
· Good skills and knowledge in using excel,
· Experience in planning and meeting deadlines.
· Knowledge of Agresso Software will be an advantage.
Skills
Excellent use of Word and Excel
Fluent in Kinyarwanda and English
Able to multitask and high level of detail and precision.
