Treasury and Credit Controller
Job Purpose
To play an active role in ensuring that shareholder value is maximised through ensuring the optimal financing structure for Vivo Energy Botswana’s assets and activities.
Principal Accountabilities
- Ensure the existence of a written Treasury Policy, clearly understood and approved at Management and Board level.
- Ensure that the Treasury Policy and procedures are complied with and provide technical assistance to the leadership team when required.
- Ensure that an appropriate Treasury controls framework is in place.
- Follow-up on Audit (internal and external) recommendations.
- Optimise financing costs through a daily monitoring of bank balances.
- Optimise financing resources through effective cash forecasting
- Ensure monthly control of treasury accounts reconciliation
- Act as country focal point with respect to local banking market including Central Bank requirements.
- Ensure that financial risk is appropriately addressed and managed; such risks include those associated with interest rate exposures, foreign exchange exposures.
- Make sure that a Business Continuity Plan is in place for treasury operations and act as focal point for maintaining/updating and testing it.
- Implement Vivo energy credit policy.
- In line with Vivo energy and Manual of Authority, ensure that all processes required to manage Customer Credit risk are carried out for all Credit customers.
- Ensure that appropriate processes and procedures are in place and complied with, in respect of Credit Performance management and Debt Collection.
- Ensure that appropriate processes and procedures are in place and complied with, in respect of Cash application/receipting and allocation.
- Release blocked orders and deliveries: Ensure that appropriate processes and procedures are in place and adhered to.
- Ensure customer dispute resolution processes are in place
- Manage Third party collection agencies and legal action
- Recommend Provisions, write offs and recoveries
- Ensure all processes around Billing/Invoices/Credit Notes/Statements are in place and timeous.
- Review of all relevant Account Reconciliations
- Ensure all Customers master data is maintained as per Vivo energy Credit Policy.
- Review and ensure all Trade and Credit Reporting and analysis is accurate and timeous.
- Advise on Credit Management policies/procedures controls and ensure compliance.
- Establish good working relationship with the class of business and customers.
Requirements
Qualifications and experience
The ideal candidate should have:
- A bachelor’s degree in commerce, Accounting or related field from a recognized university
- At least 5 years’ relevant work experience
- A member of BICA in good standing
- Strong team member with excellent communications skills
- Knowledge of SAP
