POSITION SUMMARY:
The position plays a crucial role in communicating with all levels of the organization, maintaining the highest level of internal and external customer service. The position will monitor driver dispatching, on-time delivery, and support of drivers throughout the day while redirecting drivers to ensure accuracy and consistency of pickups and deliveries.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Communicate with drivers and volunteers to ensure smooth operation and timely pickup of food pickup and deliveries.
- Monitor all driver routes and conditions for accuracy and efficiency and adjust routes as needed to avoid delays. maintain effective communication with drivers, the warehouse, and the distribution team, ensuring constant communication in the event of route changes and/or challenges.
- Collaborate with the warehouse and allocations to ensure accurate loading and unloading of orders and donations.
- Maintain accurate records of transportation activities, including driver logs and delivery and pickup reports.
- Collaborate with warehouse staff to ensure proper storage and handling of donated food items.
- Respond to inquiries and requests for assistance from partner agencies and community members regarding food distribution.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure transportation performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures.
- Address any issues or concerns that arise during transport operations with relevant departments.
- Assist drivers with any issues encountered throughout their shift.
- Assist in training and supervising volunteers involved in food pickup and delivery activities.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations related to food handling and transportation.
- Assist with additional responsibilities as assigned.
