Transportation Designer (Intermediate)

We are currently seeking a talented Transportation Designer for our Arcadis office located in Waterloo, to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the independent production of engineering design drawings for a variety of municipal roadway construction and MTO highway projects.  This opportunity allows you to use your design skills on a large-scale reputable transportation project.

Role Accountabilities:

• Working independently in conjunction with Project Management staff, develop, co-ordinate and prepare design drawings and graphics for a highway and roadway engineering projects. 
  Key responsibilities include:
  • Preparation of engineering designs, design drawings, contract documents and engineering specifications;
  • Analysis of engineering problems and design deficiencies to recommend appropriate design solutions;
  • Preparation of construction cost estimates
  • Assistance to project managers, engineers, and others on a variety of design teams

• A college diploma in Civil Engineering
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in transportation engineering design
• Eligibility for registration with OACETT is an asset 
• Roadway design experience is desirable
• Working knowledge of MicroStation and InRoads/OpenRoads and/or AutoCAD and Civil 3D
• Knowledgeable in the application of transportation engineering principles and design standards
• Excellent technical, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills 
• Initiative and an ability to work independently as part of a team of design professionals 
• A commitment to excellence and high quality work with a strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong working knowledge of MS Office
