Transport Modeller - Consultant

We are interested in candidates (very FLUENT in Italian and English) with specific experience in the transportation industry, developing complex, multi-modal strategic modelling tools for business cases, traffic due diligence and transportation planning. You will have experience finding solutions to various challenges and preparing appraisals and data reports for a range of projects and clients.

The successful candidate will enjoy working as part of the team to complement our existing modelling offer and will be required to:

  • Work on complex transportation models and related analytical tasks using a range of technical tools (VISUM, VISSIM, Emme, CUBE)
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the business to provide high-quality consulting and differentiated services to our clients
  • Contribute to effective project performance on both financial and behavioural measures

Requirements

Key requisites are:

  • Proven experience using transportation modelling tools to support transportation consultancy including:
    • Macrosimulation Network modelling (VISUM), knowledge of Emme and CUBE will be valuable
    • Spreadsheet modelling (Excel)
    • Understanding and application of logit models
    • Knowledge of Microsimulation software will be valuable (VISSIM, VISTRO)
    • Knowledge of GIS software will be valuable
    • Knowledge of Statistical analysis (R, Stata) will be valuable
  • Proven ability in leading projects to a successful conclusion
  • Proven experience in calibration of complex Network Models
  • Desire to collaborate and innovate with different teams, as well as work independently when required
  • Proficiency in Italian and English is required. Languages of other countries where Steer conducts business (especially Spanish) would be advantageous but not essential



Education and Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in planning, engineering or related field, ideally with a transportation focus
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to explain technical details clearly to non-technical audiences and write in a well-structured and logical way
