Job Summary
- Supervises the movement, distribution and storage of supplies and materials in the company.
- Manage daily shipping and distribution operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage all important documents such as advanced shipping notice, pick slips, bills of lading etc.
- Inspect labels, barcodes and other features of completed orders.
- Liaise and negotiate with customers and suppliers.
- Monitor quality, quantity, delivery times, and transport costs
- Select carriers and negotiate rates and contracts with transportation and logistics providers
- Collaborate with warehouse, purchasing and other managers to optimize processes.
- Plan and monitor inbound and outgoing deliveries.
- Supervise logistics, warehouse, transportation, and customer services.
- Research ideal shipping techniques, routing, and carriers.
- Work with other departments to incorporate logistics with company procedures and operations.
- Resolve issues regarding shipped orders.
- Ensure compliance to legal regulations and company policies
- Report to management on activities and issues
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Assistant Logistics manager and the Head of Logistics.
Requirements
Key Requirements
Education and Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain, or relevant field.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
Skills and Competencies
- Solid knowledge of logistics procedures.
- In-depth knowledge of the consumer goods industry.
- Solid understanding of logistics and inventory management software.
- Good understanding of budgeting and reporting
- Outstanding analytical, problem solving and organizational abilities.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent people-management skills.
- Computer savvy with excellent knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel)
- Experience in directing and evaluating subordinates
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
