Transfer Pricing Operation Manager Europe/AMEA

As a Transfer Pricing Operation Manager, you will lead the end-to-end TPO activities for the assigned entities/territories and ensure TP are determined in line with the TP policy of the group: 

  • Determine TPs, monitor and adjust the profit level of the key Syngenta Group entities/territories and ensure that profit level is in line with the TP policy of the group
  • Closely collaborate with Tax and Customs experts as well as the local finance leaders to ensure compliance with TP policy and an optimal overall (cross-functional) set up
  • Gain a deep understanding of the key (profit) drivers by unit
  • Gain a deep understanding of the Syngenta (tax) processes and strategies
  • Agree intercompany gross margins, true-up/true-downs and TP corrections
  • Inform proactively Group Tax and Corporate Finance about major findings
  • Manage TP setting process on product level

  • Ensure accurate profits in the entities of your region and proactively communicate findings to key stakeholders:
    • Monitor the profit of your entities and, if needed, initiate actions to correct the profitability:
      • Validate and review function and risk profiles of the units
      • Build up good knowledge of the key figures (IFRS and local GAAP) of the units in your scope
      • Execute and supervise pro-active TP corrections during the year
      • Train key stakeholders in the units
    • Partner with key stakeholders in the units, the finance centers and the wider Tax department
    • Supervise and train TP related activities of TPO Analyst
    • Inform Group Tax and Group Tax reporting about the operating income split by legal entity 
  • Support the Global Hub manager with the implementation of the IP and Hubbing principles
  • Prepare the annual update of the local TP documentation of your entities
  • Perform benchmark studies and financial updates
  • Support Group Tax, Group Tax Reporting and the Global Hub Manager in further tax optimizations, tax audits and analysis
  • Drive the implementation of new Transfer Price concepts
  • Manage the TP setting on product level by managing the hub and calculation rules of your units
  • Support M&A integration activities from a TP perspective
  • Support the the continuous improvement and maintenance of the Syngenta TP Tool software:
    • Identify potential improvements to the TP tool software
    • Coordinate with the IT support and Head of TPO to have the changes implemented
    • Coordinate the testing of the changes
    • Inform and train users of the TP tool

You will be a great fit if you have:

  • Finance degree (BSc/MSc), Tax or Accounting degree is an added bonus
  • 5+ relevant years of experience in Financial accounting background
  • Good understanding of IFRS and the differences between IFRS and local GAAP and tax returns 
  • Fluency in English
  • Practical experience in analysis of financial data
  • Practical experience in implementing concepts and changes
  • Excellent communication and motivation skills with all levels and disciplines within Syngenta’s international environment especially with the Finance contacts in the various legal entities
  • Ability to meet deadlines and to work under pressure
  • Ability to prioritize and deliver under high time pressure
  • Self-motivated and pro-active attitude
  • Strong networking skills
