Iron Hill Brewery is looking for a Restaurant Training Specialist!

A Training Specialist for Iron Hill Brewery will be the champion of training for the organization focused primarily on creating, improving, and leading effective training and development plans. This role is vital to reinforcing our mission to Inspire Loyalty through the formation and elevation of training content, lesson plans, and training aids. It is vital that the Training Specialist utilize industry knowledge and updated training methods to best adapt programs to the organization’s and employees’ training needs. A Training Specialist will monitor the effectiveness of training and identify gaps in training across the organization by using individual or group performance results, collecting feedback regularly, and working closely with the Operations team. Training programs may typically include topics such as supervisory/management training, work skills training, team building, and communications.

Base salary range begins at $65,000 based on experience, training, and education. Opportunity for annual bonus plan. 

This role will be expected to travel and work in the restaurants for at least 70% of the time.

Here is what you would do in the role: 

  • Training Content Champion- 40% of this position will be dedicated to identifying, creating, and implementing training needs.
    • Creates, organizes, plans, and presents various forms of onboarding, orientation, and skills training for employees using various forms and formats including group discussion, lectures, simulations, and videos.
    • Develops unique training programs to fulfill workers’ specific needs to maintain or improve job skills.
    • Creates and/or acquires training procedure manuals, guides, and course materials.
    • Evaluates program effectiveness through assessments, surveys, feedback, and follow-up.
    • Maintains knowledge of the latest trends in training & development and creates content that engages employees where they are.
    • Advises leadership teams on training gaps and potential action plans or strategies to better support business needs and goals.
    • Work closely with regional teams to implement and follow up on Independent Development Plans and Performance Improvement Plans for managers across the organization.
    • LMS and Training Administration- 30% of this position will be dedicated to managing the LMS and associated content.                                    
      • Develops and maintains organizational communications such as LMS calendar and newsletters to ensure employees have knowledge of training and development events and resources.
      • Manages employee access and content placed in the LMS to ensure an effective, engaging, and efficient employee journey through the system.
      • Uploads and manages content for LTOs, menu changes, and company events.
      • Maintains records of training and development activities, attendance, results of tests and assessments, and retraining requirements.
      • Generate and provide regular training completion reports via the LMS.
    • Supervisory- 20% of this position will be dedicated to supervising and leading Training Champions, assigned for each location.                                    
      • Will assist in the selection of Training Champions in each location to conduct specific training and development.
      • Assesses Training Champion effectiveness and provides feedback and/or suggested action plans to restaurant leadership to enhance Training Champions’ performance as well as program success.
        • This may be accomplished through performance evaluations, coaching, training, and 1-2-1s for Training Champions.
    • New Restaurant Openings and Misc. Tasks- 10% of this position will be dedicated to new restaurant openings and miscellaneous administrative work.
      • Travels to new restaurant openings and conducts new orientation training for all new employees in a large format capacity.
      • Organize, lead, and conduct quarterly new leadership development training at/near our Home Office location.
      • Analyze and provide a breakdown of training costs for various programs for budgeting
      • Manages physical training inventory items such as new manager binders
      • Other projects as assigned.

    To be successful in this position the ideal candidate should have the following qualifications and skills. Required skills and qualifications are noted directly in the list below.

    • Minimum of two (2) years in a multi-unit training role is required.
    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or relevant experience.
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact positively and effectively with various types of people.
    • Strong presentation skills.
    • Adept with a variety of multimedia training platforms, software, and methods.
    • Ability to design, evaluate, and research effective training options and alternatives.
    • Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets with company guidelines is required.
    • Passionate about making new connections, inspiring loyalty, and providing top-quality service in all aspects of the role is required to be successful.
    • Detail-oriented and able to prioritize tasks and time to ensure completion of all daily projects.
    • Possess a strong sense of flexibility, persistence, initiative, and eagerness to work in a hands-on learning environment.
    • Flexible availability conducive to restaurant needs
    • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
