Job Purpose
The Trainee Engineer is a permanent position and will be responsible for assisting in the planning, maintenance, repair, and efficient operation of oil and gas distribution systems. This role involves hands-on work and collaboration with a team of engineers and technicians to ensure the safe and reliable distribution of energy products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning and execution of Routine Maintenance: supervision of routine maintenance tasks on pipelines, storage facilities, and distribution networks.
- Troubleshooting: Assist in identifying and repairing faults in the distribution system, including leaks, corrosion, and mechanical failures
- Monitor System Performance: Help in monitoring the performance of distribution systems using specialized equipment and SAP Maintenance software. Report any anomalies or inefficiencies. Support in closing Maintenance Work Orders in timely manner.
- Compliance with VEML HSSE Standards: Ensure all activities comply with company policies and Group safety standards. Participate in safety training and emergency response drills. Report Potential Incidents.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other team members, including engineers, depot supervisors/managers, terminal operation manager to facilitate the smooth going of the maintenance plan.
- Emergency Response: Be available to respond to emergency situations in the distribution depots
- Project Support: Provide support in distribution-related projects, including new installations or upgrades to existing systems.
- Permit to Work: Become an accredited Permit to Work Issuer and Authorised Gas tester
- Raise and Follow-up on Purchase Orders on SAP. Send Purchase Orders to suppliers and contractors. Follow up on Payment
- Compile Depot Engineering technicians Overtime and send to HR.
- Follow up on Remedial Actions to be conducted following routine maintenance checks
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Petroleum Engineering, or a related Engineering field.
- Experience in Permit to work can be an advantage.
- Basic understanding of the oil and gas industry.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Willingness to work in varied outdoor environments and on a flexible schedule.
- Basic computer proficiency and willingness to learn specialized software.
