Responsibilities
- Work under and with the guidance of the Senior Clerk of Works
- Provide a Professional Clerk of Works service for all Capital Projects with weekly reports as required
- Liaise with the Contract Administrator to ensure that construction programmes are undertaken efficiently and effectively
- Check drawings for discrepancies or errors in dimensions/detail and compare with Bills of Quantities/Tender Analysis and report possible problems/discrepancies
- Undertake inspection of work on site, ensuring that the work is executed to the standard specified by the Design Team and, also that work complies with current building standards
- Check and confirm with the contractor that all setting out, ground levels and drainage connections are set properly before preparing site
- Check the position, dimensions and plumb of structural members, walling etc, and of concrete shuttering before concrete is poured
- Ensure that the Company’s responsibilities in relation to Health and Safety are achieved by implementing, promoting and monitoring safe working practices and ensuring compliance with safety regulations, statutory legislation and Health and Safety Policies
- Maintain records and undertake associated administration duties e.g., compile progress reports and attend site meetings
- Monitor Contractors’ progress against the works programme, record any deviation from the schedule and keep the Senior Clerk of Works informed
- Provide reports and briefing notes as required and deliver both written and verbal reports to a range of meetings
- Liaise with residents and stakeholders where necessary to ensure a high levels of customer satisfaction at all times
- In conjunction with the Senior Clerk of Works, carry out snagging and inspections prior to hand-over to ensure an acceptable standard has been achieved
- During defects liability period, investigate complaints received from residents and bring it to the attention of the Senior Clerk of Works for immediate satisfactory resolution
About you
- Willing to undertake all training required to fulfil the role along with any necessary training to achieve a Clerk of Works role
- Knowledge of property development and construction processes and a good understanding of the statutory and regulatory procedures and performance requirements
- Have an awareness of building design, construction procedures & knowledge of forms of contract
- Have an awareness of building services engineering, building regulations & CDM regulations
- The ability to question site team staff and operatives, and internal colleagues
- A confident and people-oriented personality
Requirements
- You have more than 1 years' experience of working in construction
- Have a minimum ONC, and preferably a HNC in Construction or willing to work towards
- The ability to promote the work of the company in both spoken and written form
- The ability to develop strong working relationships with a variety of groups, including colleagues, site personnel and customers
- A tactful and diplomatic customer focused attitude
- Initiative and a 'can do’ attitude; the ability to see a task through to conclusion and seek appropriate recommendations for service improvements
- Have competent IT skills and the ability to quickly pick up a variety of IT systems, including being able to record and process data accurately
- A full UK driving licence and access to a car
