Tool and Die Engineer – Job Requirements
We are seeking a highly skilled Tool and Die Engineer responsible for designing, developing, and improving tools, dies, and fixtures for stamping, bending/forming, and machining processes. In addition to the core responsibilities, the ideal candidate must meet the following requirements:
- Mechanical Engineering & Materials Science Expertise:
- Deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles and materials science to design, evaluate, and enhance tooling for efficient, durable, and cost-effective manufacturing processes.
- CAD Proficiency:
- Demonstrated ability to create detailed 3D models and technical drawings using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA).
- Tool Design & Development:
- Proven experience in designing and developing tools, dies, and fixtures, with a focus on manufacturability, ease of use, and cost-effectiveness.
- Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization:
- Expertise in analyzing existing tooling for wear and performance issues, and implementing continuous process improvements to enhance tool efficiency, durability, and consistent product quality.
- Prototyping & Testing:
- Experience in developing, testing, and validating prototype tools and dies, including performing dimensional inspections and functional tests to ensure compliance with design specifications and quality standards.
- Technical Support & Troubleshooting:
- Ability to provide on-site technical support to manufacturing teams, diagnosing and resolving tooling issues during production to minimize downtime.
- Maintenance Collaboration:
- Proven capability to work with maintenance teams to oversee the upkeep, repair, and retooling of equipment, ensuring continuous operational excellence.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work closely with production, quality control, and design teams in understanding requirements and delivering effective engineering solutions.
- Training & Documentation:
- Competence in training operators and technicians on tool usage, setup, and maintenance, and in preparing detailed documentation, reports, and budgets related to tooling projects.
- Project Management:
- Ability to manage multiple tooling projects simultaneously, ensuring that all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet performance targets.
