Core Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with other faculty and staff as Technical Director for one Theatre Department production per semester including instructing and supervising students, creating working drawings, budgeting and ordering materials, and ensuring completion of the set.
- Teach students in Theatre Department classes and spaces safe, effective practices in theatrical production (scenic construction, sound, stage management, working at heights, rigging, etc.).
- Work as sound engineer for faculty shows and facilitate and support guest sound designers.
- Advise and provide academic and technical support for Theatre Department classes, and student independent projects.
- Liaise with Facilities Services to ensure maintenance of Theatre Department spaces and equipment.
- Provide Light and Sound support and work with Production Manager on scenic construction for Summer Language School productions in Theatre Department spaces.
- Manage the Theatre Department scenic and properties collection including loans and rentals to other productions.
- Provide production support for Performing Arts Series events in Theatre Department spaces.

Requirements
- BA or BFA in Theatrical Production and four years professional experience OR commensurate professional work experience.
- Experience in teaching and supervising students.
- Knowledge of standard theatrical production practices including scenic carpentry, sound and video design and equipment, rigging, and welding.
- Experience in managing schedules, personnel, and budgets. Provide technical direction, instruction, creative input, and academic support for Theatre Department productions and production classes to include sound and stage management. Collaborate with theatre faculty and staff to achieve departmental mission and goals.
- Experience with theater-specific software - CAD/CAM (particularly Vectorworks), sound (particularly QLab), video production software, and Microsoft, Google and Adobe software products.
- Strong artistic, technical, administrative, and organizational skills; the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects and communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Experience in equipment and facility maintenance.
- Experience with theatrical technology including lighting, networking, sound, intercom and video equipment systems and control.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Work includes moving heavy objects and working at heights.
Schedule includes working nights and weekends around technical rehearsals and performances.
Working conditions are a combination of an office environment and site work in theaters and scene shops.
