What We Need
As a Test Manager for Video Games, you will be responsible for overseeing the quality assurance process throughout the development lifecycle of video games. Your role will involve managing a team of testers, creating test plans, implementing testing strategies, and ensuring the overall quality and stability of video game products. You will collaborate closely with development teams, producers, and other stakeholders to identify and address issues, manage testing resources efficiently, and uphold the highest standards of quality in the gaming experience. This role will report to a Director or Sr Director.

What You’ll Do
Team Management:
Lead, mentor, audit and supervise a team of Associate Managers, Sr. Leads, and Leads ensuring productivity, motivation, and professional development.
Assign tasks, set priorities, and manage workloads to meet project deadlines.
Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment conducive to creativity and innovation.
Perform regular 1 on 1 meetings as well as performance reviews.
Raising disciplinary issues as appropriate.
Actively participate in the recruiting and interviewing process.
Test Planning and Strategy:
Develop comprehensive test plans and strategies for video game projects, considering various platforms and target audiences.
Define test objectives, scope, and methodologies, ensuring thorough coverage of all game features and functionalities.
Collaborate with development teams to integrate testing into the development process, from pre-production to post-launch phases.
Quality Assurance:
Build bug projections and provide regular updates on progress.
Implement standard processes for bug tracking, documentation, and reporting, ensuring clear communication and resolution of issues.
Sign off on development breakthroughs and assist with 1st party submission process.
Risk Management:
Identify potential risks and dependencies that may impact project timelines, budgets, or quality standards.
Develop contingency plans and mitigation strategies to address risks proactively and minimize their impact on project delivery.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Collaborate with game designers, developers, producers, and other stakeholders to align testing efforts with project goals and requirements.
Communicate test results, progress updates, and recommendations to relevant teams, facilitating informed decision-making and problem-solving.
Continuous Improvement:
Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and standard methodologies in game testing and quality assurance.
Drive process improvements and initiatives to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and scalability of testing operations.
Conduct post-mortem reviews and analysis to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement in future projects.
What Will Make You A Great Fit
Proven experience (5 years) in software testing, with a focus on video game testing.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate, coach, and empower team members.
In-depth knowledge of quality assurance methodologies, tools, and standard processes in game development.
Proficiency in test planning, execution, and reporting, with experience in both manual and automated testing techniques.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
Familiarity with game development processes, game engines (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine), and platforms (PC, console, mobile).
Experience with bug tracking systems (e.g., Jira, Bugzilla) and version control systems (e.g., Git).
Strong analytical attitude, attention to detail, and a passion for delivering high-quality gaming experiences.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
Certification in software testing (e.g., ISTQB).
Knowledge of performance testing and optimization techniques for gaming platforms.
Previous experience in game development or game design roles.
