About the Role

The Glassdoor Test Engineering team is looking for a passionate, skilled, and driven Test Engineering Manager (SDET) to build optimized test automation solutions and manage test Engineering team members. You will work with the team to define goals and roadmaps to achieve quality benchmarks. We are seeking a candidate who is self-motivated and thrives in a fast-paced, agile environment, capable of wearing multiple hats, adapting quickly to change, and eager to learn new technologies as needed. This role demands working in a multi-functional, collaborative environment, so excellent interpersonal and communication skills are crucial. The ability to prioritize, multitask, manage a team effectively, and deliver results is paramount.

What You'll Do

  • The ideal candidate will have prior experience managing a test engineering team and a proven track record in leading and developing automation frameworks.
  • A solid understanding of QA best practices and a commitment to quality are essential. Proficiency in object-oriented programming is a must.
  • Manage a team of talented test engineers (with 3-4 direct reports).
  • Collaborate with the team to discover new ways of creating and implementing tests by identifying gaps.
  • Establish quality standards, benchmarks, metrics, and process improvements.
  • Enhance the test framework by incorporating new tools and strategies.
  • Communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders about progress, challenges, and timelines.
  • Lead by example, maintaining high morale during tight deadlines.
  • Promote test coverage to create new tools and evangelize automation standard methodologies.

What You’ll Bring 

  • A commitment to add to our culture of DEI.
  • 8+ years of experience testing web & mobile applications, at least 2+ years of experience in test engineering management, leading teams of test engineers.
  • Experience with automated test tools and frameworks. 
  • Knowledge of QA best practices and the ability to create processes to drive quality in a product.
  • Proficiency in building maintainable and efficient tests using Java-based and JavaScript tools like Selenium, WebDriverIO, and JUnit.
  • Must have experience with API Automation testing.
  • Programming experience with Java or other object-oriented languages.
  • Comfortable working with a cross-functional team of developers and quality engineers to develop innovative automated testing solutions.
  • Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies.
  • Self-starter who can take on and delegate tasks and deliver with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with Linux, SQL, performance tools, bash scripts, and version control systems such as Git is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

Base Salary Range*:  $140,400 - $210,600 ++

*Glassdoor base salaries are targeted to the market 75th percentile for technical roles and the 65th percentile for non-technical roles. In other words, 65-75% of comparable organizations in our industry will pay less.

Annual Bonus Target: 10%

**Bonuses are paid in 6-month intervals, aligning with bi-annual performance reviews

***Restricted Stock Units (RSU) are awarded at hire and may be refreshed annually. Additionally, as a pay-for-performance company, RSU grant awards are presented bi-annually to exceptional performers.
