Test Automation Engineer Summer Job

About the Summer Job

We are looking for students passionate about better quality to join our Test Engineering team in Tampere for three to six months. You will be a part of product development and you will help us qualify and measure the quality of our product releases. You’ll also be able to build, improve and extend our test automation test sets.

What You Will Do

As a test automation engineer at Scandit, you will get exposure to a lot of different projects and products our engineering works on.

Depending on your background and interests, you might work on:

  • Building new Hardware / Software test sets for our tests to run for image capturing, device benchmarking, time measurements, etc.
  • Executing and monitoring test results from existing test sets for various product releases, reporting test results
  • Maintaining test runs and test setup to ensure stable test infrastructure
  • Helping us to speed up our testing cycles by expanding our test automation solutions and coverages for various products.
  • Optimizing the test automation runs on our Continuous Integration (CI) pipelines and improving reporting, test coverage, and test execution times for our SDK and core products.
  • Identifying, optimizing, and implementing test coverage for client-relevant performance, accuracy, or use case scenarios.
  • Integrating test results reporting into our existing systems

As a part of our Test Engineering team, you will participate in the final sign-offs for our product releases, ensuring that our products live up to our customers’ expectations for mission-critical applications. To this end, you will be working closely not only with our existing test engineers but also with developers, designers, and product managers.

Who You Are

  • Motivated student interested in a summer job of three months or longer
  • Enrolled in or completed a bachelor’s or master’s program in computer science, information technology, software engineering, robotics, or a related field
  • You have good communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ideally, you already had some exposure to software development or testing for mobile apps, CI infrastructure, test sets, or simple hardware tinkering or electronics experience through your studies, previous work experiences, or hobbies
  • You have a quality mindset and a tendency to find issues in software apps, you like to try and find ways to improve the quality of software products for users
  • You have basic understanding or are interested in learning languages that our engineers use in testing and for mobile apps: Python, Swift and/or Objective C, Kotlin and/or Java
  • You are thorough and pay attention to detail
