Tesco Returnship Program: Software Development Engineering - Mobile Developer

The Program will enable you to work on projects that match your expertise, interests and abilities.

Retail and Commercial Enterprise Apps team works on building applications for Store Colleagues in Tesco Stores, these applications are used to perform inventory management, shelf label management tasks. About 100-150k store colleagues use the apps on specialised mobile devices (from Zebra, Honeywell and Urovo) and iOS and Android personal mobiles.

Skills:

• Experience with Objective-C or Swift and Cocoa Touch for iOS and Java, Kotlin for Android
• Experience with iOS frameworks such as Core Data, Core Animation, etc.
• Experience with MVVM, MVP frameworks for Android
• Familiarity with offline storage, threading, and performance tuning 
• Familiarity with using RESTful APIs to integrate iOS and Android applications with back-end services.
• Knowledge of other web technologies and UI/UX standards
• Understanding of Apple’s and Googles design principles and interface guidelines
• Knowledge of low-level C-based libraries is preferred 
• Understanding of performance and memory tuning with tools such as Instruments and Shark, Profiler
• Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications
• Knack for benchmarking and optimization
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as Git, Mercurial or SVN 
• Familiarity with continuous integration
• Familiarity of Analytics tools like Firebase, Adobe
• Familiarity of Monitoring and Alerting tools like Appdynamics
• Working experience of tools like Junit, ProGaurd and knowledge of Robo Electric, Jet Pack, RxJava, Source Tree and Postman would be good to have.
