This is a part-time, temporary position for this school year, 24/25.

JOB SUMMARY:
The College Academic Advisor advises students regarding academic plans and progress, assists the student in making decisions concerning educational goals leading to graduation and beyond. The College Academic Advisor will also be involved with post-secondary career and vocational planning. The position requires working closely and collaboratively with the College Academic Counselor, administration, staff, students, and parents.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide services and supports under the advisement of the Academic Counselors in the area of  academic, career, and vocational advising to all students
  • Co-plan, monitor and direct the 4-year process to student graduation and postsecondary pathway
  • Support with student interventions and guidance programs
    • Understand student IEP, 504, MTSS and SST plans and collaborate with key stakeholders
  • Coordinate, plan, and facilitate school-wide events, college tours/fairs and college exploration activities
  • Manage scholarship information
  • Support the monitoring and communication to students and families of grades,  transcripts and progress towards graduation 
  • Prepare and deliver college, career, and academic workshops in collaboration with College Academic Counselors
  • Coordinate, promote, and educate students and families on Early College opportunities and dual enrollment including applications and enrollment process in collaboration with College Academic Counselor
  • Maintain appropriate, confidential records and provide timely reports
  • Demonstrate knowledge of, and support, Aspire Public Schools mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required knowledge, skills & abilities:
  • Maintains professional confidentiality and works collaboratively with College Academic Counselors and school site administration.
  • Knowledgeable of high school graduation, A-G and college admissions requirements
Minimum educational level:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • AA degree or equivalent work experience required

 

Experience required:
  • Experience working with parents and families, especially those from under resourced communities 
  • Experience working with diverse student populations including first-generation, low-income, etc.

 

Physical requirements:
  • Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
  •  Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

 

Work authorization requirements: 
  • Clear the Department of Justice background screening
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Provide health (TB) clearance (renewed every four years) 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics are representative of those in a normal office, classroom/school setting which one might encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. Compensation is based on years of experience in the role- $74,607- $104,710
