We’re seeking an experienced systems administrator who’s eager to further develop technological skills on a worldwide stage. This person will protect our critical systems and assets, build solutions, implement new software and hardware, provide training, and assist in developing the overall Platform & Core Services strategy. The ideal candidate is passionate about applying skills and expertise to a technology-based business model that creates real-world solutions for the global marketplace.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain essential technology infrastructure both OnPrem and Cloud-based, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, software and hardware
  • Take responsibility for projects and solutions within the larger business initiatives
  • Handle business-critical technology tasks and systems that provide commercial advantage in the global marketplace
  • Enable faster and smarter business processes, and develop analytics for meaningful insights
  • Work with internal partners and external clients to communicate status, activities and achievements
  • Perform server administration tasks for OnPrem and Cloud-based systems (ex: user/group, security permissions, group policies); research event-log warnings and errors; and monitor resources to ensure that systems architecture components work together seamlessly
  • Monitor application health using existing management tools, and respond to application, database and infrastructure issues as they arise; help build, test, and maintain new systems/applications
  • Manage OnPrem and cloud-based internal infrastructure requirements, including servers, inter-account connectivity, firewalls, security updates
  • Manage OnPrem and cloud-based system requirements, including performance and availability
  • Perform troubleshooting across application, database and servers to identify and resolve root cause of issues; provide technical support when needed
  • Perform routine and scheduled audits of all systems, including backups

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Multiple years of experience in an application or technical support role
  • Experience and interest in data analysis plus the ability to query databases using SQL (preferably with direct database support experience)
  • Experience with or knowledge of programming languages and operating systems, current equipment and technologies, enterprise backup and recovery procedures, systems performance-monitoring tools, active directories, virtualization, HTTP traffic, content delivery, and caching
  • Experience in project management, application design and integration, and OnPrem system support and cloud computing (specifically AWS)
  • Expertise in analyzing and resolving issues with large-scale distributed systems and enterprise applications
  • Ability to prioritize, manage, and deliver on multiple work streams simultaneously; highly motivated and able to work within aggressive schedules 
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate problems, offer solutions and determine when more help is required or when escalation is necessary
  • Superior communication skills in order to interact directly with Nielsen’s client users (interpersonal, verbal, presentation, written, email)Action-oriented, flexible, resourceful, and able to operate effectively within a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Time management skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work as part of a team and interact effectively with others
  • Positive attitude, team player, self-starter; takes initiative, ability to work independently
