Led by Digital Catapult and funded by Belfast Region City Deal and Innovate UK, the UK Digital Twin Centre will actively enable industry and innovators to safely embrace, explore and realise the dynamic power of digital twins.  Operating from the heart of Northern Ireland, the Centre will accelerate the adoption of digital twins to drive global competitive advantage for UK businesses. By creating the conditions for digital twins to be better understood, more easily developed and more meaningfully applied, the Centre will give businesses real-time capabilities to make smarter decisions and achieve better outcomes, enabling the potential of digital twins to be realised, not theorised. Through partnerships with industry pioneers, the Centre will demonstrate how digital twins can responsibly revolutionise critical industries in maritime, aerospace and defence, and advance the products, services, and systems of the future. 

The role is focused on enabling data access, ingestion and data management across the platform from the edge to the cloud. It establishes the physical to virtual connection and receives data directly from IoT, equipment sensors or control systems, performs localised processing and distributes to other tiers.

WHAT YOU’LL DO (Duties)

  • Help set the strategic course for digital twin data service capabilities within the organisation. 
  • Responsible for defining and documenting the technical requirements for digital twin implementations.
  • Lead research and development initiatives that explore new possibilities in Digital Twin Data Services 
  • Developing proposals that articulate the value proposition of digital twin technologies for potential clients and partners, highlighting the benefits and advantages.
  • Serve as a knowledge hub, ensuring that insights and learnings are disseminated across the team and organisation. 
  • Actively participate in open innovation initiatives, including consortiums, industry groups, and academic partnerships, to co-create and advance the field of digital twin technology.
  • Engage with the wider digital twin community to exchange ideas, collaborate on projects, and keep abreast of the latest industry developments..
  • Provide regular and comprehensive reports on the progress, achievements, and outcomes of digital twin projects, including the status of R&D efforts, integration challenges, and the impact on business objectives.
  • Serve as the go-to expert for all matters related to digital twin technologies. 
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align digital twin initiatives with broader organisational goals.
  • Drive the continuous improvement of digital twin technologies and practices.

Requirements

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR (Experience)

  • A Masters Degree in computer science, IoT, Data Engineering or a related field. Equivalent professional experience can be considered. 
  • Grasp of keen interest in Digit Twin Data Services Technologies, IoT and cyber-physical integrations. 
  • Mastery in creating and managing various types of data models, with a strong ability to set standards, analyse enterprise data requirements, and manage data structures.
  • Relevant experience of data management, data engineering , systems integration, data base administration, programming and software development.
