Position Summary
The position is responsible for performing scheduled preventative maintenance and routine services on new and used rental equipment in the field. Additional responsibilities include but not limited to; looking up needed parts, writing service reports, return of parts, assigning time to jobs and adhering to all safety regulations.
Position Duties/Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities:
- Performs routine scheduled services for rental equipment fleet in the field.
- Preform annual inspections for Mobile Equipment Work Platforms (MEWP)
- Completes all required reporting for service time in an accurate and efficiently; this includes writing service reports, properly allocating time to each job, and tracking parts charged and parts returned
- Maintain customer satisfaction by understanding customer needs and ensuring deadlines are met safely, timely, and accurately as possible. May require working overtime (weekends and/or evenings) based on business needs
- Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and efficiently; work orders, service reports, allocation of time, and tracking parts
- Complete all scheduled repairs in a safe and efficient manner
- Maintains company issued equipment and tools, keeping them in good working orders
- Adheres to all safety rules and maintains quality housekeeping in work area
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- No formal responsibility for supervising others
Position Requirements
Required:
- High School diploma or GED or equivalent work experience
- 2 years or more of mechanical experience with construction equipment. (Caterpillar, JLG, Genie, and etc.) Working knowledge of hydraulics, power train and electrical systems.
- A valid driver’s license and ability to get a commercial CDL (preferably a Class A or B with air brake endorsement).
Preferred:
- Associates in Diesel Technology
- 4 years or more experience with construction equipment, preferably Caterpillar, JLG, and Genie. Strong knowledge of hydraulics, power train and electrical systems.
- Class A or B CDL with air brake endorsement

- Strong mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of power train, diesel engines, and electrical systems
- Ability to work outside of standard business hours including weekends and evenings

- Excellent customer service skills
- Professional demeanor with both internal and external contacts including personal appearance and friendly, courteous treatment of peers and people at all levels inside and outside the organization
- Ability to respond to customer requests with a sense of urgency, treating customers as his/her highest priority. Takes personal responsibility with customers, keeping commitments and following through on requests.
- Moderate computer skills experience with Enterprise Resource Systems(ERP), Time and Attendance Systems, and the ability to learn CAT/MacAllister/Michigan Cat systems.
- Solid understanding of work area metrics, takes responsibility for improving metrics and results. Understands the value of 6 Sigma in the workplace and contributes when asked.
- Strong initiative, demonstrating a “self starting” ability to daily work and proactively making improvements to the work process.
- Ability to build and maintain effective customer and professional relationships through strong interpersonal skills with emphasis on relationship-building and consistent demonstration of solid professional judgment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure, deadline driven environment
- Ability to work overtime, evenings, and weekends as needed
Other Requirements of Position
- Works under general supervision. Employee acts independently to handle standard problems but usually reports on such problems. More unusual problems are referred to a supervisor/manager..
- Major responsibilities typically require a modest amount of creativity and latitude. Employee typically operates under general instructions with some established procedures and policies
- If an error is made while in this position, it will require some effort to identify the error and can impact the company financially
- Frequently communicates with customers, management, coworkers, and vendors
- Maintains equipment and supplies to avoid waste, damage to areas and equipment, and to prevent accidents
