Technical Writer

Tecovas was founded with the simple goal of making the world's best western boots, apparel and leather goods - and selling them at a fair price. We are a brand revolutionizing a category and welcoming first-time boot buyers and western enthusiasts alike.

Tecovas is looking for a Technical Writer to create compelling and accurate Product Detail Page (PDP) content that reflects our premium brand. Reporting directly to the Senior Copywriter, you will be responsible for crafting clear, detailed, and engaging product descriptions and specifications for Tecovas’ website. As a member of the Creative team, you will work cross-functionally to ensure our PDPs communicate value and resonate with our customers. The ideal candidate for the position will have a meticulous eye for detail, an ability to translate technical product features into customer-friendly language, and an understanding of footwear and Western wear. 

This role is required to be based in Austin, TX. Candidates must either be currently located in or willing to relocate to Austin, TX.

What you’ll do:

Content Creation:

• Write detailed, engaging, and accurate product descriptions for footwear, apparel, accessories, and more.
• Translate technical product specifications into customer-focused language while maintaining Tecovas' brand voice.
• Highlight key features, benefits, and craftsmanship to educate and inspire customers.

Collaboration:

• Work closely with the Product and Merchandising teams to understand product details, materials, and intended use.
• Partner with Creative and Marketing teams to ensure PDP content aligns with broader campaign messaging and storytelling.
• Collaborate with eCommerce and UX teams to optimize PDP layouts and readability.

Quality Assurance:

• Proofread and edit PDP content for accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
• Ensure all product information, including sizing, care instructions, and technical specifications, is accurate and up to date.
• Monitor live PDPs and update content as needed to reflect inventory changes or new product details.

Industry Knowledge:

• Leverage knowledge of footwear, apparel, and Western wear to craft authentic and credible product content.
• Stay informed about industry trends and customer preferences to enhance PDP content and strategy.

Experience we’re looking for:

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in technical writing, copywriting, or eCommerce content creation.
• Strong understanding of footwear, apparel, or Western wear, with knowledge of materials, fit, and craftsmanship.
• Exceptional writing and editing skills, with attention to detail and consistency.
• Ability to simplify complex technical information for a broad customer audience.
• Familiarity with eCommerce platforms and content management systems (e.g., Shopify, WordPress).
• Experience with SEO best practices and writing for digital audiences is a plus.

Each pair of Tecovas boots is crafted by hand in over 200 steps. It’s not the easiest or cheapest method, but we’re committed to classic construction techniques that stand the test of time.
