Kodiak is looking for an experienced technical writer to aid with the development of product documentation for our autonomous trucking system. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cutting-edge technologies and a talent for translating complex technical information into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation. You will collaborate with engineers, product managers, operations and legal teams to create product documentation and training materials to be used by our customer.
Term length: 3-6 months

Key Responsibilities and Expectations:

  • Develop and Maintain Documentation: Create, edit, and maintain comprehensive product documentation such as user guides, training material, troubleshooting steps, and procedure summaries.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, product managers, operations and legal teams in California and Texas to ensure accurate and timely documentation of new features and technologies.
  • Simplify Complex Concepts: Convert highly technical and engineering-heavy content into easy-to-understand language for non-technical audiences.
  • Workload: 40 hours per week, preferably spending at least 3x days a week in our Mountain View CA office.
  • Goal driven: Expectation to deliver materials according to strict timelines.
  • 1099 contract
  • US Citizenship required

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Technical Writing, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Proven Experience in technical writing, preferably in the autonomous vehicles or robotics industry.
  • Strong Technical Aptitude and the ability to understand complex systems, software, hardware, and electronics.
  • Excellent Writing and Editing Skills with ability to write concise material, and with high attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in tools including Google Docs, and GitHub.
  • Ability to work independently and manage projects under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to start immediately

The hourly range for this contract position is $60.00-$80.00. Our hourly ranges are determined by role, level and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
