As we’ve grown we continue to embrace the startup vibe and foster a fast-paced and challenging environment. What is unique about our company, is that everyone has a voice and is welcomed to use it. We’re global but well connected and agile. Keboola has offices and team members spanning across Europe and North America. Gartner has recognized our company as a Data Operating Systems organization.

We are looking for an experienced Technical Program Manager who is passionate about improving operations, streamlining processes, and enabling our engineering team to work more efficiently. This role is not about managing people but rather acting as a central figure to drive operational excellence and align engineering initiatives with broader company goals. As part of a growing SaaS-based company, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, ensuring the smooth execution of complex technical initiatives.

You will work alongside engineering leads, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure project goals are clearly defined, resources are efficiently allocated, and timelines are met. Reporting directly to the Head of Engineering, this role will serve partially as a Chief of Staff within our engineering organization. The ideal candidate will be based in Prague and comfortable working in a hybrid environment. Fluency in English and Czech or Slovak is required.

What you’ll do

  • Predict and plan what will be needed, managing the day-to-day operations while being the eyes and ears of the organization.
  • Develop and carry out project and process plans, implement policies and procedures, and set operational goals.
  • Acquire resources for projects and processes, provide technical management, and lead process improvement initiatives.
  • Assist the engineering lead on a daily basis, attending meetings alongside, taking accurate and comprehensive account of meeting outcomes and action items.
  • Create and execute briefings ahead of all meetings and events, preparing talking points and written communication for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify inefficiencies in workflows, manage risks, and implement process improvements, focusing on operational excellence rather than people management.
  • Act as the bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders, driving effective communication and collaboration.
  • Manage project status meetings, sprint planning, and retrospectives, fostering continuous improvement within the engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with engineering leads on strategic planning and aligning projects with company objectives.
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure operational effectiveness.
  • Ensure comprehensive project documentation, including technical specifications, process workflows, and lessons learned for future reference.
  • Organize internal events like team-building activities, hackathons, and knowledge-sharing sessions to enhance team culture.
  • Support the Head of Engineering by preparing materials for reviews and providing insights into team performance and project success.

What we look for and what are the skills you need to have

  • Understanding of software development, particularly in SaaS or cloud-based products.
  • 4+ years of experience in program management within a technical or engineering environment.
  • Proven experience managing complex projects from inception to delivery, without directly managing personnel.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and tools like Jira, Confluence, etc.
  • A track record of identifying operational bottlenecks and implementing process improvements.
  • Knowledge of software engineering best practices, including CI/CD, code reviews, and release management.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience managing risks, dependencies, and trade-offs across teams.

  • We also require some basic soft skills:
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, handling multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Results-oriented with a focus on completing tasks and driving projects to success.
  • Adaptability and patience in fast-paced or ambiguous situations.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with attention to detail and high-quality output.
  • Excellent teamwork skills and the ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to switch seamlessly between strategic and operational tasks.
  • Leadership qualities with the ability to influence without direct authority, especially in cross-functional teams.

A little bit more about the opportunity

  • Autonomy within your position. We are focused on outcomes, not micromanaging everything that you do. We love free company movement.
  • Work with great brands both locally and worldwide. Ask us who we were working with!
  • Work with new industry-leading data technologies.
  • The opportunity to create the job you want that fits in with the life you want. We know there is life outside of work, and think fulfilment is achieved when all areas of your life fit together.
  • We believe the best people are a bit weird and have an inner engine that drives them.
  • We strive to push people for career development.

You can look forward to the following benefits

  • Competitive compensation.
  • Generous paid vacation time.  And we mean generous.
  • Cool new offices in the heart of Holesovice in Prague.
  • We are a company born in the cloud means we are relatively location independent. Want to take an extra-long trip while working on the beach (or forest, or desert?), go ahead - make sure to send us a postcard.
  • No set office hours and flexibility (aside from when you are placed on-call to support customers).
