Sports fans with strong communication skills, along with an interest in analytics, modeling, and betting are perfect for this role. As we grow our business to cover new sports, new betting markets, and new sportsbook partners, Simplebet is looking for a Technical Product Manager to help set and deliver on Simplebet’s product roadmap for our Machine Learning team. As a Technical Product Manager on the Product team, you will work collaboratively across product, engineering, analytics, and trading to support prioritized product roadmap initiatives and live market operation.

The core of the role will be directing the Machine Learning team roadmap and representing the Machine Learning team to the rest of the company while solving complex and entirely new problems in the sports betting industry. Success in this role will be defined by the ability to fully understand and communicate the company’s product goals and the feasible technical paths to accomplish those goals using machine learning.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and manage the Machine Learning team product roadmap, getting company-wide buy-in on planned initiatives.
  • Communicate product requirements and business strategy to the Machine Learning team and create a culture of engineering product ownership.
  • Write clear, well-defined, and well-understood tickets both for how to functionally do the work and the business reason for the work.
  • Create and manage Zenhub board to facilitate workflow productivity of the machine learning team.
  • Run standups and other team meetings.
  • Problem solve and think outside of existing betting industry practices to accomplish company goals.
  • Work with the trading team to ensure understanding of model strengths and weaknesses, and how to collaborate to maximize uptime and product experience.
  • Clearly define work processes for building and maintaining machine learning models.
  • Collaborate and communicate with product team leaders and company executives.
  • Suggest and implement any other ways to create valuable live sports products you can think of, we’re a startup and there is plenty of room to contribute outside of the basics of the role!

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience as a technical product manager.
  • 2+ years machine learning experience or demonstrated experience owning product delivery of performant machine learning models called with live data inputs.
  • Experience with Python and the machine learning ecosystem in Python (Numpy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, LightGBM, PyTorch, SHAP).
  • Strong understanding of statistics and machine learning.
  • Experience working closely with product and engineering teams to prioritize scope and communicate between teams.
  • Demonstrated history of solving complex problems involving data and technology.
  • SQL skills a plus
