Technical Manager

Are you ready to lead a dynamic team and drive innovation in a fast-paced manufacturing environment? The Technical Manager oversees and mentors technical staff (Process Engineers and the Quality Control Lab), manages the site capital plan, and ensures compliance with internal and regulatory standards. This role is pivotal in driving continuous improvement and operational efficiency through effective project management and process enhancements. Reporting to the Regional Director of Manufacturing for the Americas, the Technical Manager collaborates with various departments to lead and execute projects that optimize production processes, improve product quality, and reduce costs.

Your responsibilities will include:

1. Team Management:

  • Manage and mentor Process Engineers and Quality Control Lab personnel.
  • Provide training and support to build technical expertise and foster a collaborative environment.

2. Compliance and Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, Halal, Kosher, and other relevant standards.
  • Follow up on quality complaints and ensure corrective actions are taken.
  • Maintain safety and regulatory requirements in Quality Control laboratories.
  • Ensure quality incidents are properly reported and investigated.
  • Ensure products are analyzed, handled, stored, packaged, and delivered according to documented procedures.

3. Process and Product Improvement:

  • Monitor process capabilities and ensure customer specifications are met.
  • Review operating conditions, recommend corrective actions, and implement process improvements.
  • Utilize tools to monitor departmental costs and trends, continuously improving value.
  • Lead changes to optimize product volume, yields, and quality while minimizing costs and maximizing safety and reliability.
  • Use failure analysis to investigate root causes and implement equipment modifications or process improvements.

4. Project and Budget Management:

  • Oversee the site capital plan, including forecasting and budgeting.
  • Plan, lead, and execute technical projects, ensuring timely and budget-compliant completion.
  • Manage departmental and capital budgets.
  • Establish and maintain procedures for a capital tracking/reporting system.

5. Continuous Improvement:

  • Drive continuous improvement through trend analysis and metrics management.
  • Maintain the cost improvement program, including process automation and efficiency projects.
  • Track cost reduction efforts across the plant.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures to ensure effective operations.

6. Business Support:

  • Support various business activities and initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering,
  • Process engineering experience,
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing facility,
  • 5+ years in a technical or process management role within a manufacturing facility (preferred),
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience (preferred),
  • Proven track record in leading technical teams with strong project management and interpersonal skills,
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills,
  • Ability to influence actions and mindsets.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Highly organized with strong time management skills.
