Technical Manager - Battery Electrolyte

About the Job

This management position will own the continued development and scale-up of Anthro's innovative polymer electrolyte technology. You will lead a small-but-mighty team to push the limits of battery performance by developing novel polymer and liquid electrolytes. You will be be a key decision maker for setting Anthro's technical strategy and an owner of one of our core technologies. You and your team will develop chemical strategies and formulations to meet requirements for a wide range of battery chemistries and customer requirements.

 

What you will do

  • Lead a small team of engineers and scientists to develop novel electrolyte technologies
  • Serve as internal subject matter expert for battery electrolytes
  • Develop novel polymer and liquid electrolyte engineering strategies, chemistries, and formulations to target specific battery performance properties
  • Conduct deep literature and industry review to identify promising chemical strategies
  • Identify key capabilities gaps and design experiments to close them
  • Work with a range of battery chemistries, including Si anode, Graphite, Li Metal, NMC, LCO, LFP, and others
  • Design and execute thoughtful experiments, analyze data, and interpret experimental results
  • Work hands-on in the lab to unstuck your team and push the technology forward
  • Mentor engineers on technical and professional development
  • Pro-actively identify strategic opportunities for technical developments
  • Contribute to the development of Anthro’s IP roadmap and file relevant IP
  • Assist with preparation and execution of government grants
  • Prepare presentations and report on progress at internal meetings
  • Work in-person, on-site at Anthro’s lab in San Jose

Requirements

  • 3+ years industry experience focused on lithium-ion batteries
  • PhD in STEM field with additional experience in an industrial R&D setting related to polymers and/or batteries and/or liquid electrolytes
  • Profound electrochemical knowledge
  • Established R&D engineer demonstrated scientific accomplishments
  • Comfortable working with advanced polymer materials, liquid electrolytes, and battery systems
  • An excellent communicator and team player
  • Able to manage multiple workflows and projects
  • Ambitious, looking to increase your responsibility in a fast growing company
  • Visa sponsorship is not available
