Technical Analytics Manager, Supplier Advertising

Candidates for this position are preferred to be based in Boston, MA and will be expected to comply with their team's hybrid work schedule requirements.

Who We Are:

The Supplier Advertising team at Wayfair provides solutions for Wayfair’s 10,000+ suppliers to advertise their brands and products.  These offerings include on-site solutions such as sponsored product listings and display ads, as well as off-site offerings such as email placements and Meta targeting.  We work on both improving our products to maximize their inherent value, as well as advising suppliers on how best to leverage them to grow their businesses on Wayfair.  Not only are we generating millions in extra revenue for suppliers and solidifying Wayfair as a preferred partner, but we’ve built a significant business that’s one of the highest growth areas in the company.

We are looking for a Senior Technical Analyst to join the Commercial Analytics team that sits within the overall Supplier Advertising team.  The Commercial Analytics team performs a wide array of functions, including but not limited to building backend data structures that power our reporting, tracking and analyzing how suppliers interact with our self-service platform, defining and monitoring overall business performance and KPIs, and building recommendation engines for our suppliers.  Our work is technically challenging, high-impact, and heavily relied upon for strategic decision-making. This role provides significant exposure to senior leadership and opportunities to work with a variety of cross-functional partners across Commercial and Technology organizations.

What You’ll Do:

  • Comprehend, extract, and message information from large data sources including sales, clickstream, product, and customer databases to deliver business insights and recommendations
  • Build and maintain our team’s backend data structures in GBQ and Looker, ensuring they are set up to drive impactful downstream reporting for both Wayfair stakeholders and suppliers
  • Build tracking for our supplier self-service portals to understand how suppliers interact with these platforms, ultimately helping us understand where we need to improve
  • Develop, distribute, and maintain scalable self-service tools and dashboards that align with broader departmental goals, allowing cross-functional partners to access data and identify meaningful insights
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for data, analytics, and testing within the business unit to ensure accurate and proper interpretation of core business metrics and consumer behavior
  • Develop data sets and KPIs that allow us to track progress and effectively respond when we do not see the results we expect
  • Conduct rigorous analyses and generate data-driven, strategic insights that lead to step-change business improvements.
  • Serve as a thought partner with Product, Engineering, and Design teams to identify areas of opportunity, define / execute tracking plans for the toolset, and influence prioritization decisions with data
  • Communicate key insights and recommendations to cross-functional executive leaders across the organization.

We Are a Match Because You Have:

  • Bachelors in computer science, engineering, math, statistics, economics, or other quantitative discipline
  • 4+ years of work experience in a relevant field such as business analytics, data management or engineering, quantitative analytics, testing, predictive modeling, etc
  • Experience proactively identifying areas where analytical efforts can add strong business value and setting the analytics roadmap.
  • Proficient knowledge of Python, SQL / Eden, Google Cloud Platform, and Excel / Google Sheets
  • Familiarity with visualization tools, such as Google Data Studio, Looker, or similar
  • Strong technical aptitude with demonstrated experience leveraging data from a multitude of sources to solve complex problems, tell a story, and impact overarching strategy
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at once
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to understand how various parts of the business interact; can identify and approach problems from a customer perspective
  • Ability to condense technical subject matter for non-technical audiences and succinct communication and to deal with ambiguity in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor communication style based on the audience
  • Knowledge of Git, and LookML is preferred, but not required
