We are looking for a Tech Lead Manager to join our Data & ML Platform Squad and drive the development of cutting-edge data solutions in the domains of Data, Datalakes, and Machine Learning Operations. In this role, you will balance hands-on technical contributions with leadership responsibilities, working closely with a talented team to build and evolve our data platform. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping our platform’s architecture, fostering collaboration, and ensuring we remain at the forefront of technology.

Together we are building a product that helps our users to get more restorative sleep, and to see how their lifestyle affects their body and mind.

Requirements

What You will do: 

• Handle line management duties for engineers in the domain of Data, Datalake and Machine Learning Operations.
• Line management includes: regular 1on1s, twice-yearly perf reviews, and more.
• Create hiring plans and participate in recruitment to attract and retain world-class talent.
• Spend a significant portion of your time designing and developing components as part of the team.
• Act as one of the product managers for the platform team. You will understand the state of our platform, you will interact with your team and other stakeholders, understand their needs, and collaborate to translate them into actionable roadmaps.
• Collaborate with the team and stakeholders to, together, make important roadmap and architecture decisions.
  

We would love to have You on our team, if you have:

• Experience as a software engineer, ideally with a background in data engineering, datalakes, and AWS. At a minimum, you must have experience with backend development in a cloud environment.
• Prior experience in a team lead or management role OR comparable experience taking leading roles in larger projects with significant collaboration needs.
• Project management skills: organizing a backlog, writing tickets, hosting planning sessions, etc.
• Great communication and collaboration skills.
• Proactive learner. You’re interested in the tech and domain and stay up to date with relevant technologies and advancements.
• You bring energy to the teams you work with. You’re self-motivated and proactive.
• Comfortable working with a distributed team that works mostly from home, within the same timezone.
  

We also appreciate if You have knowledge on any of the following technologies:

• Experience creating Machine Learning models.
• Experience building Machine Learning Platforms to support data scientists (e.g. MLFlow, notebooks, distributed training eg.)
• Experience building Datalakes on AWS.
• Proven track record of leading sizeable projects involving collaboration with multiple teams.
• Knowledge of multiple relevant technologies: AWS services such as Glue, Sagemaker, Athena, Kinesis, SQS, Eventbridge, as well as Python, Typescript, Pytorch, CDK, dbt, dagster
