Tech Lead / Lead Software Engineer (Business Logic Development)

The Lead Engineer Business Logic Development has dual responsibility:

The lead is responsible for implementing improvements in the team processes and further shaping and developing the discipline. Manages the discipline by guiding, coaching and facilitating employees in reaching the set organisational and departmental objectives.

Besides the responsibility of being the lead for the Business Logic Development discipline for our Sri Lankan team, you are a member of a Scrum team working on expanding and improving the Ultimo software by drawing up and implementing user stories, for example. The engineer makes an important contribution to monitoring and improving the overall quality by actively thinking about functional requirements and solutions. In this role you create and improve the functional aspect in the modules that describe and support the business processes as accurately as possible.

The person we seek is capable of:

• Translating user stories and requirements into a functional solution
• Developing new functionalities and modules
• Monitoring and improving the quality of the software by analyzing/solving performance issues and performing code reviews
• Structurally and systematically delivering desired results on the set deadlines
• Drawing up a backlog; assessing user stories and dividing them into tasks and activities
• Noticing and analyzing developments that influence steady improvements in process optimization and quality
• Reviewing plans, designs and realisations from colleagues in the discipline
• Serving as the point of contact of the discipline and ensuring proper communication and information exchange
• Monitoring and developing the quality, knowledge and skill level of the employees in the discipline

Performs personal development and performance management conversations with the employees in the discipline

• University degree or equivalent professional qualifications in a field relevant to the technical and/or functional area of responsibility, preferably Technical Computer Science, Business Information Systems or Business IT & Management, If necessary with additional certifications and/or courses aimed at .NET
• Command of spoken and written English
• Broad knowledge of software development
• At least 5 years of experience as a developer
• Experience with C#, SQL, XML.
• Experience with version management and continuous integration
• Experience with translating user stories into tasks
• Able to recognize connections between different tasks and projects
• Experience with creating database models and normalising
• Familiar with the Agile/Scrum way of working
• At least 8 years of experience in the profession as developer, of which 3 years as lead.
