About the team and position

The ServiceNow Team Lead plays a crucial role in the design, development, and management of ServiceNow solutions to meet organizational goals and optimize business processes. This position involves providing technical leadership to a team of ServiceNow administrators and developers while collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. The ServiceNow Team Lead ensures that all solutions align with organizational objectives, meet security and compliance standards, and deliver incremental business value through the efficient implementation of workflows and automation processes.

What you’ll be doing

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead and mentor a team of ServiceNow developers and administrators.
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Drive adoption of Agile best practices to ensure a collaborative, high-performance team environment.

Solution Design & Implementation:

  • Define ServiceNow platform strategy, architecture, design, and best practices.
  • Oversee the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of ServiceNow modules, including ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, FSM, and others.
  • Manage the development of workflows, custom applications, and integrations with other enterprise systems.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Work closely with business stakeholders and technical teams to gather and translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Serve as the point of contact for ServiceNow-related initiatives and coordinate with other departments to ensure alignment.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of technical designs, processes, and decisions.

Performance Optimization & Governance:

  • Monitor platform performance and proactively address issues to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Implement best practices, governance, and security standards across ServiceNow solutions.
  • Plan and manage system upgrades, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.

Incremental Value Delivery & Continuous Improvement:

  • Guide the team in delivering value through DevOps pipelines and continuous integration.
  • Evaluate emerging ServiceNow features and technologies to improve platform capabilities.
  • Promote knowledge management by organizing and optimizing knowledge articles.

Compliance & Security:

  • Ensure all solutions meet security protocols and government regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to maintain data security and system integrity.

What you should have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s is a plus).
  • 5+ years of experience in ServiceNow administration and development.
  • 2+ years of experience in an IT leadership role.

Technical Skills:

  • Expertise in ServiceNow modules such as ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, FSM, and CMDB.
  • Hands-on experience with ServiceNow App Engine, Flow Designer, and IntegrationHub.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like JavaScript, Glide API, and web services (REST/SOAP).
  • Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of cloud-native applications, SaaS environments, and data integration methodologies.

Leadership & Interpersonal Skills:

  • Proven ability to manage and lead Agile development teams.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while effectively managing multiple priorities.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be capable of delivering high-quality ServiceNow solutions under time constraints.
  • Hands-on experience in implementing ITIL processes, ticketing workflows, and automation.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and requirements.

It would be great if you also had 

  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) and Certified System Administrator (CSA).
  • ITIL v3 or v4 certification.
  • Experience with PaaS (Now Platform) and ServiceNow’s knowledge management modules.
