How you’ll make an impact
As a Team lead - Data engineering in the Marketing Data Science, Analytics & Insights team, you will be responsible for leading some of Xero’s brightest data engineers in large and complex data sets, as well as build robust, reusable and optimized data pipelines.
Our Data Engineering team helps deliver data and analytics to our customers, who include data scientists, analysts,product owners within the marketing team. This team provisions data pipelines and solutions that enable Xero to deliver on its exciting data and analytics strategy. This team also develops high-quality data architectures and processes that enable data to be processed and consumed in the way our organization can best leverage it.

- Prioritises and takes responsibility for work requested by your portfolio area and demonstrates high levels of accountability.
- Help drive continuous improvements to data quality procedures and a consistent approach to how data quality is measured, monitored and reported.
- Liaise with architecture, security, product managers and marketers to ensure all deliveries are supported by the correct architectural implementation.
- Work on incident management, service requests, enhancements/changes and audits.

- Technical
- CI/CD tools like Teamcity, GitHub Actions Jenkins, Harness or Circle.c
- Infrastructure as code utilities like Terraform, Cloudformation.
- Docker and Kubernetes.
- Good knowledge of SQL, Snowflake, dbt, Python, AWS, AWS Serverless (Lambda Functions), SQS, -SNS, S3, Glue,
- Clear and concise oral & written communication including technical documentation
- Experienced in orchestration tools (such as Apache Airflow, Prefect)
- Proficient in roll out and maintenance of cloud infrastructure
- Knowledge of data requirements for ML / AI use cases beneficial
