The Role:
The Tax Manager reports directly to the Controller and is responsible for managing all aspects of the company’s global income and indirect tax accounting, reporting and compliance functions. This Tax Manager will be responsible for the company’s tax accounting processes while maintaining compliance with tax laws, and will focus primarily on US Federal income taxes for the company and its partner owners. In addition the tax manager will be responsible for other tax-related matters s, including entity structures, VAT compliance and overall global tax strategy. The Tax Manager also provides proactive guidance to finance leaders to manage risk, support growth and contribute to overall shareholder value.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage all aspects of the company’s domestic, international tax operations including, tax planning, compliance, and tax accounting in accordance with all law and regulations
- Ensure all income, sales/use, property, VAT/GST and other indirect tax returns are filed timely and accurately
- Perform tax analysis and research related to global tax planning initiatives, cross-border transactions, transfer pricing, and audit activities
- Implement transfer pricing policies and entity structuring changes
- Identify and explore indirect tax opportunities and issues related to business expansion, system and controls, refunds and cash flow, and policy and design
- Manage completion of tax audits and perform critical analysis to build audit defense strategies
- Manage company’s outside tax service providers
- Act as a key player in our global tax management and planning
- Research and resolve technical tax issues
- Assist in implementing/maintaining effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process
- Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate the effects of these developments and assist in creating strategies to capitalize on changes to tax legislation
- Manage LLC member (partnership) tax capital accounts, allocations and reporting
- Coach and develop tax team members in more specialized areas of tax
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; Master’s in Taxation a plus
- Active CPA license preferred
- 6+ years of progressive federal tax consulting and/or compliance experience in public accounting, or industry equivalent, with management experience
- Experience in LLC and/or Partnership returns and member/partner issues is a requirement
- Experience in multi-state and local indirect tax and sales/use planning and compliance is a plus
- Experience in value added taxes, sales and use taxes, goods and services taxes, federal excise taxes and other transaction taxes is a plus
- Excellent analytical, technical, and tax accounting/technology skills with proficiency in IRC, tax compliance, corporate and flow-through consolidated returns, partnership returns, and combined state tax returns
- Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships
