Role Overview and Objectives
The Tax Consultant is responsible for preparing Tax filings/returns and supporting Tax compliance workpapers for the Datacom Group. This role covers a range of tax types across all jurisdictions that Datacom operates in, currently New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
Role Responsibilities
The Tax Consultant is responsible for Tax reporting & compliance, but not limited to:
- Preparing the workpapers and payment instructions of the tax obligations, including but not limited to Income Tax, GST/VAT, FBT, WHT, Payroll Tax
- Lodging and filing returns, as appropriate.
- Reviewing tax effect accounting workpapers and statements for financial reporting.
- Reviewing tax General Ledger accounts on an agreed basis and providing support documentation/evidence and journals to substantiate balances.
- Assisting with the preparation of the Group’s transfer pricing documentation and processes
- Ensuring adherence to internal and statutory reporting deadlines
- Supporting the implementation and improvement of Datacom tax governance framework and policies across the business.
- Liaising with tax authorities i.e., Australian Taxation Office, Inland Revenue Department other regulatory bodies, advisors and providers, as appropriate.
- Assisting with general ad hoc tax matters as required.
- Supporting driving operational efficiencies through continuous process improvements and identifying system improvement opportunities.
- Ensuring governance and risk management strategies comply with applicable legislation, government policy, relevant standards, contract obligations and the strategic priorities of Datacom.

Requirements
Knowledge
- Extensive knowledge and experience in Finance/Accounting.
- Broad understanding of key tax concepts.
- Extensive knowledge of financial management practices, with a clear understanding of the relationship between costs, utilisation, and project revenue.
- Understanding of the business and the IT industry.
Experience
- Minimum 2+ years of broad experience in accounting & tax.
- Demonstrate experience in coordinating and managing multiple tax compliance deadlines.
- Experience in both direct and indirect taxes.
Skills
- Skilled with Tax Software / platforms eg CCH for NZ
- Excellent skills in excel including building models.
- Adhere to schedules, work plans and performance requirements.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to understand and analysis tax movements and concepts.
- Ability to frequently interact with a variety of stakeholders and team members.
- Effective presentation skills with the ability to convey technical information across various levels.
- Ability to build and lead an effective team
