The opportunity

This is a unique opportunity for a Tax Accountant to further their careers and join our collaborative, friendly and highly regarded Trusts and Estates team. This role will involve supporting our team of lawyers across our Trusts and Estates, Older and Vulnerable Client and International Cross Border teams advising individuals on a broad spectrum of tax services covering personal, trust and estate tax returns, capital gains tax and inheritance tax planning.

This role will be based in our Bath office, however we do operate hybrid working where remote working is available.

Key responsibilities

Responsibilities are broadly but not limited to:

  • Preparation of accounts for individuals, trusts and charitable organisations
  • Tax computations and tax return preparation
  • Preparing Inheritance Tax forms as required for trusts
  • Advice on inheritance tax and capital gains tax issues (including potential mitigation strategies) and on trust law aspects
  • Communicating with executors, trustees, beneficiaries and other professionals

Requirements

  • Qualified Accountant (Qualifications including; ATT/ ACA, ACCA, CTA STEP). We can consider applicants who are in the final stages of obtaining the relevant qualifications.
  • The candidate will require an enhanced DBS check.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in trust accounting and taxation.
  • Knowledge of UK and non-UK personal, trust and estate taxation including inheritance tax.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills when dealing with clients and others, including ability to deal with clients in a  compassionate and professional manner.
  • Ownership of tasks through to completion.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to a high level of accuracy
  • Willingness to work supportively and co-operatively with other members of the team.
  • Organisational skills and high attention to detail.
  • Must be discreet when dealing with the Firm’s confidential affairs
