Tax Accountant

The Tax Accountant plays a crucial role in ensuring proper tax compliance for sales tax and use tax through timely completion. Additionally, they are responsible for remitting all tax returns, payments, and conducting research on tax inquiries.        
        
What You’ll Do:            
  • Work with third-party consultants to prepare and file sales and use tax returns timely and accurately; Realizes full discounts when available.
  • Work with state auditors on indirect tax audits.
  • Assist in month-end close and prepare journal entries.
  • Prepare written communication for Indirect Tax issues (i.e., refund claims, needed exemption forms, etc.)
  • Partner with IT in updating tax rates for the POS including researching and verifying rate changes for accuracy and timeliness; update Tax Master spreadsheets and validate monthly sales tax data.
  • Assist in State Income tax compliance and gathering information for Income Tax audits as needed.
  • Assist in obtaining new and renewal business licenses and occupational tax returns as needed.
  • Provide customer service to other teams as needed such as helping AP secure the proper checks or getting business licenses for the construction team on an expedited basis.
  • Maintain the tax calendar to manage deadlines for all tax types and filings. 
  • Assist Tax Manager with tax payments due. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.   
        
What You’ll Need:         
        
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent work experience
  • Previous sales tax and compliance experience
  • Strong Microsoft Excel experience and Microsoft Suite
  • Strong technical knowledge of all areas within tax accounting and other regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve various accounting issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team while managing multiple priorities and maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining strong relationships.   
  • Must be available to work on Pacific Time hours to meet the needs of the business. 
  • Occasional travel to HQ in City of Industry, CA is required.

Salary range:   $66,560 - $78,000
