Overview 

This is an exciting opportunity to take on a 12-month fixed term contract maternity cover position, as an interim Talent Manager on a part time basis 3 or 4 days per week.  This role would suit someone who has prior in-house experience, and who has experience of recruiting roles across multiple disciplines and varying levels of seniority within a business. This is an opportunity to work in a supportive and nurturing HR team and make a big impact in helping to attract and retain the top-quality talent in the market for teams across GrowUp.  

You’ll be a key member of the People team, reporting to the People Director, and working closely with them on a variety of strategic projects, such as strengthening our Employee Value Proposition, as well as working closely with hiring managers to support them on all aspects of their hiring processes.  

In this role you’ll be building relationships, challenging existing viewpoints and upholding the recruitment strategy as well as our diversity and inclusion policies, HR policies and much more. 

The role is based in London but is hybrid in nature and with occasional travel to our Kent and Cambridge sites.  

All the responsibilities we will trust you with:   

Talent Attraction & Acquisition 

  • Understand various sourcing techniques and be a subject matter expert and guide to People Team and Recruiting Managers 
  • Ensure a highly positive and smooth candidate experience throughout the hiring life cycle 
  • Coordinate with hiring managers to forecast future hiring needs 
  • Experience with (phone and in-person) interviews, candidate screening and evaluation methodologies, and be aware of how you may need to adapt these based on the role and seniority 
  • Research and select job advertising options which will yield the most optimal results 
  • Preparing and editing engaging and exciting job advertisements, using the job descriptions and brief you are provided by the hiring manager.  

Relationships and Partnerships 

  • Working with internal team to ensure the recruitment and selection process is adhered to and implementing improvements when required 
  • Managing relationships with our PSL of external recruitment agencies 
  • Identify the training needs of hiring managers with respect to interviewing techniques, candidate exercises or inclusive recruitment strategies, and provide the necessary support
  • Build the company’s professional network through existing relationships and partnerships with universities, colleges, and other organisations. This may be through the attendance of careers fairs, or hosting events 
  • Proactively widen our talent pool through creative recruitment initiatives 

Spreading the word 

    • Support and strengthen our employer brand to make us an employer of choice in all our locations and beyond 
    • Provide timely recruitment metrics and analytics for the People Director 
    • Champion a diverse, inclusive, and equitable recruitment practices to support our business ambitions 
    • Understand, support, and embody a culture that reinforces our mission and values. 

Requirements

Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role:   

Must haves: 

  • Proven success as an in-house recruiter or talent professional, with experience delivering effective support on hiring processes across a broad variety of roles/specialisms 
  • You will be experienced in direct sourcing methodologies, as we aim to source most of the roles we advertise directly, this will include building campaigns on social media, such as LinkedIn.  
  • You will also be adept at building proactive talent pools of candidates for upcoming roles in the pipeline. 
  • You will uphold all talent related policies such as Diversity & Inclusion, to ensure the job descriptions, requirements for the roles, and the recruitment processes are run in a fair, and inclusive way 
  • Knowledge of employment law relating to GDPR & IR35 compliance. 
  • You will build strong relationships with candidates, and ensure you deliver a great candidate experience. Ensuring all candidates receive detailed, fair, and timely feedback.  

Nice to have: 

  • Experience designing and facilitating recruitment related training.  
  • Hands-on experience with Applicant Tracking Systems, such as (Workable) and HR databases (BambooHR) 
  • Experienced in headhunting for senior level hires. 
  • Prior experience in recruiting for technical roles, such as construction, engineering, or health & safety. 

Person Specification: 

  • Creative thinker, often we will have a role where there may be a need to think creatively and outside of the box, at how we can find someone with a diverse skillset which would align – thinking on the spot and being able to come up with innovative solutions is important in this role. 
  • Great Communicator, you will have developed strong communication skills and won’t be afraid to challenge stakeholders to ensure that the process runs smoothly, and everyone is clear on their roles & responsibilities. 
  • Team player, the HR teamwork in a highly collaborative way here at GrowUp, and every person that you recruit, will be onboarded by a colleague in the HR team, so working closely together, with good communication skills, is essential to ensure a smooth and seamless process.
