As a Systems Engineer - Technical Lead, you will oversee the technical development and delivery of new energy storage products. You will lead cross-functional teams, collaborate with stakeholders, and ensure the alignment of technology solutions with business goals. Your role is crucial in driving innovation, optimizing product performance, and maintaining a competitive edge in the market.
What does a Systems Engineer - Technical Lead do at Fluence?
- Oversee the end-to-end product development lifecycle from conception to deployment.
- Define and prioritize product features and technical requirements.
- Ensure products are developed to meet quality, performance, and scalability standards.
- Review product requirements (stakeholder, system technical, component). Work with cross functional teams to finalize product hardware and software controls architecture deployed in Fluence lithium-ion battery enclosures.
- Lead and support program execution through the full project lifecycle, from requirement development, architecture development and trades, specification development, requirements verification, compliance assessment, and operations.
- Work with cross – functional teams and support development of control system architecture, electrical & mechanical drawing packages, descriptions of operations, control methodology, configuration specifications, interface specifications, and commissioning instructions for Fluence lithium-ion battery enclosures. Review technical deliverables lists and review the major technical deliverables.
- Champion the Fluence Responsible value: ensure the Fluence designs are quality products that include appropriate engineered safety features.
- Lead program design reviews and support configuration management and engineering review boards, model-based system Engineering efforts, technical planning, system integration and risk/opportunity management.
- Control costs and develop strategies to reduce costs and improve product reliability.
- Evaluate changes/upgrades to process control systems and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Support, lead, and facilitate internal and external Root Cause Analysis, Lessons Learned, and Management of Change Activities.
- Perform system design and trade studies - high level concept trades to support detail design efforts.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, promoting continuous learning and professional growth.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership, including architecture design, design reviews, and problem-solving.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends and evaluate their potential application to company products.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to define and refine product vision and strategy.
- Communicate technical concepts and project status effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Act as a liaison between engineering teams and other departments to ensure cohesive and aligned product development efforts.
- Identify and mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle.
What does the ideal candidate look like?
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in product development, with at least 3 years in a leadership or senior technical role.
- Proven track record of successfully leading complex product development projects.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to mentor and motivate teams to achieve high performance.
- Experience in Energy Storage domain preferred.
