Summary:
NexThreat is seeking a Systems Engineer (SME). The Systems Engineer (Subject Matter Expert) will join the Infrastructure Support team, which is responsible for maintaining systems and networks that provide the vital infrastructure platforms for Security Operations Center (SOC) capabilities and data. This team is accountable for system administration, identity and authentication management, information system security accreditation, data storage and backup solutions, physical infrastructure maintenance, and automation development. The Information System Security Officers (ISSO) will focus on maintaining the Authority to Operate (ATO) for applications and systems within the SOC.
Key Responsibilities:
· Perform system administration tasks across various platforms to ensure optimal performance and uptime.
· Manage identity and access management systems, ensuring that appropriate credentials and permissions are assigned.
· Oversee information system security accreditation processes and compliance with relevant standards.
· Implement and maintain data storage and backup solutions to safeguard organizational data.
· Support physical infrastructure maintenance to ensure reliability and security of hardware assets.
· Develop automation solutions to streamline operational processes and improve efficiency.
· Work closely with the ISSO team to maintain ATO for SOC applications and systems.
· Evaluate and manage the implementation of NIST 800-53 controls across systems.
Unique Skills/Tasks/Software:
· Required:
o Microsoft Windows and Active Directory
o Understanding of NIST 800 series publications and compliance with the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA)
· Preferred:
o VMWare vSphere 7 experience
o Cisco Networking knowledge
o Experience with Dell Server and SAN Storage hardware
o Familiarity with system accreditation and authorization processes, specifically the FBI’s ATO processes
o Experience evaluating, documenting, and managing NIST 800-53 control implementations
o Experience with Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) tools (RiskVision, Xacta, JCAM)
Preferred Certifications:
· Microsoft Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
· VMware Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV)
· Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
· Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
· Proven experience as a Systems Engineer or relevant role, with a strong understanding of system and network administration.
· Excellent problem-solving abilities and strong analytic skills.
· Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with cross-functional teams.
