Duties and Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems and applications
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues.
- Monitor and resolve problems in our system design and operations, and help our Network Operations Team with related support tickets
- Continuously analyze, research, and make recommendations in improving server system performance
- Support in systems and network changes when needed, including spearheading the procurement and completion of requirements in collaboration with internal teams
- Support in updating network and systems procedures and assist in facilitating changes
- Responsible for information management and data repositories
- Development of tools to support the network and systems infrastructure
Qualifications
- With at least the equivalent of 3 years work experience, in a Linux production environment
- Knowledgeable about “infrastructure as code” concepts and experienced in creating deployments using code as opposed to manual configurations; Ansible experience preferred.
- Experience being responsible in responding to incidents in production, problem management, and change management
- Experience and expertise in the following is an advantage:
- Using a system provisioning framework (Puppet, Chef, Ansible),
- Scripting (Bash, PERL, Python) to automate operational tasks in production
- Hardware virtualization (KVM, Proxmox), and system containers (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and experience in network configuration
- Common Internet protocols (HTTP, DNS, SMTP, etc.) and usage of networking software (Apache, Postfix, BIND, Dnsmasq, OpenSSH, OpenVPN, curl)
- Proficiency in using monitoring and analytics tools (Nagios, Zabix, Prometheus, check_mk, Grafana)
- Proficiency in shell scripting (bash) and familiarity with programming languanges like Python and Perl.
- Directory services using LDAP/LDAPS on a production environment a big plus.
- With strong communication skills, openness to new ideas, resourceful, and eager to continuously learn
- Certifications in the areas of Linux Administration, though not required, is a plus.
- Experience working on a data center environment a plus.
