We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced VMware Engineer to join our team. As a VMware Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our organization's virtualization infrastructure. Your role will involve overseeing VMware administration, virtual machine management, troubleshooting, and ensuring the performance, availability, and security of our virtualized environment. There will be partnership with other teams that would include Network, Windows Engineering, Linux Engineering, Security and Storage. It is especially important that our team communicates often and openly for successful deployments.
Duties and responsibilities
- Implementation and Support of VMware vSphere virtualization solutions with a small team of regional full-time engineers.
- Confidently explain complex technologies to all levels of leadership
- Develop and maintain clear and concise documentation of all datacentre infrastructure as it related to virtualization and storage.
- Report into virtualization team lead daily with updates on platform health and project tasks.
Competencies, Attributes, Knowledge
- 5+ years of virtualization experience supporting a large VMware environment.
- In-depth knowledge of VMware, AD Group Policy, and network storage
- VMware Certified Technical Associate (VCTA)
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
- Cisco UCS experience
- Strong network background
- HCI - Dell/EMS VxRail or Cisco HyperFlex
- Proven ability to keep pace with latest technologies and skills.
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Cisco Certified Network
- Professional (CCNP), or equivalent, are a plus.
- Windows AD user and security administration
- Advanced knowledge in VMware Networking, data stores, backup, DR replication, vSAN and SANs
- VMware Certified Technical Associate (VCTA)
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
- Cisco UCS experience
- Strong network background
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as IT, Computer Science, systems, or
- Software engineering from an accredited college or university (5 years' experience in lieu of
- degree) Self-motivated and able to work independently and in team environments.
