As our SVP, Business Development Leader - Life Sciences, you will…

Be Accountable and Responsible

  • Partner with the Chief Client Officer, Health and Life Science Practice Area Leads to contribute to the profitable growth of the company by developing the overall growth strategy for Life Sciences in the West Region, including identifying the target market, creating an effective story/value proposition and packaging the functional service offerings.
  • Translate the Life Science growth strategy into annual sales and marketing plans.
  • Manage the overall marketing activities within the West region including the company’s digital presence, PR, events, CRM, and influencer relations.
  • Partner with Marketing and the Life Science Leadership Team to build the company’s brand awareness and relevance.
  • Generate a healthy pipeline of leads for the West region, and nurture them into qualified opportunities.
  • Lead and/or support new business proposals (e.g. RFP’s, capability presentations, pricing submissions) and solutions (e.g. pitches and orals).
  • Lead and/or support major client contract negotiations.
  • Partner with Leadership to manage marketing operations, including reporting on new business revenue forecast/pipeline, SFDC, sales/marketing materials, and the marketing budget.
  • Conduct research for insights into market demand and competitive activities.

These are the qualifications we’re looking for

  • 20+ years of experience in the life science/pharma industry, with 10+ years concentrated in growth roles specifically in Chicagoland and along the West Coast.
  • Demonstrated experience and thorough understanding of selling agency and/or tech services
  • Demonstrated consultative selling skills and consistent success in converting business prospects 
  • Passion to cultivate a deeper understanding of MERGE’s service offerings and create a clear business strategy to generate interest and conversion 
  • Deep and trusted C-suite and Key Decision Maker level relationships at pharma/life science companies in Chicagoland and along the West Coast
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in ensuring quality client service.
  • Ability to:
    • Develop valued relationships with senior-level client management, based upon broad knowledge of marketing and promotional principles and insights.
    • Manage challenging situations and recommend effective solutions.
    • Think in terms of business management including demonstrating cost-effective ways to increase productivity, manage expenses, etc.
    • Effectively delegate and manage multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of MERGE Life Sciences and digital solutions and the ability to provide clear direction related to the marketing of the MERGE brand.
  • Collaborate well with other agency departments, colleagues of all seniority levels, executive management, and client management.
  • Effectively educate, develop, lead, and manage direct reports [note: no direct reports at this time].
