ARCHIMED investments goals’ remain to improve health outcomes at all levels by building resilient sustainable healthcare industries and as such, ARCHIMED has classified its new fund MP II as a Sustainable fund under Article 9 (SFDR). We are seeking an experienced, motivated, values-driven associate/senior associate to join the Sustainability & Impact Team.

The Team

  • An international team (British, French, German, Italian, Polish…) with complementary education and experience in the investment, medical, scientific, strategic and operational sectors
  • Composed of alumni from: INSEAD, Berkeley, Georgetown, Bocconi, HEC Paris, Ponts et Chaussées, ESSEC, Imperial College, Dartmouth, etc.
  • Professional backgrounds: Private Equity (3i, Siparex, USS Ltd, Barings, capiton), Consulting (A.T. Kearney, Bain, McKinsey), M&A (Lazard, EY, KPMG, PwC), Industry (Biotronik, Cerba, Pharmacy, Veterinary)
  • You will report and work closely with the Head of Sustainability and Impact and will work in team-spirit with a senior analyst and a junior analyst.

Your Role

    • Support the creation and development and optimize ARCHIMED's over-arching sustainability and impact strategy and tools to : support the mission, vision and theory of change; helping ARCHIMED to evaluate potential investment products from an impact perspective; provide appropriate consistency across the diverse investment products and sectors of focus; and enable reporting to the firm’s investors on the impact being achieved by the Funds.
    • Help inform the Investment Committee : guide, challenge and review the impact analysis and thesis conducted by the investment teams pre-investment, evaluating whether a targeted investment is consistent with ARCHIMED's sustainable objective and all obligations applying to Article 9 Funds on the SFDR. The impact assessment and thesis will be built around the intentionality, additionality and measurement framework of impact assessment. Support the identification of Impact indicators in relation to SDG 3 (and where applicable SDG 9) targets.
    • Support the creation and deployment of ARCHIMED's Impact MedSeg, to help prioritize investment in higher-impact sub-sectors.
    • Monitor regulatory updates in ARCHIMED's locations and sectors of focus and contribute to ensure compliance with all sustainability-related requirements.
    • Support the creation and oversee execution of concrete, actionable sustainability and impact roadmaps for each portfolio company with targets and milestones consistent with the materiality analysis conducted on the company and ensuring all products align and contribute to the overarching sustainability and impact strategy of ARCHIMED, partnering with third-party technical experts when necessary.
    • Empower and influence the management of portfolio companies of the strategies to advance the sustainability and impact roadmap, including the provision of technical guidance and support, through coaching and sharing of best practices.
    • Establish a ‘centre of excellence’ for impact and sustainability for all Funds and portfolio companies, developing tools and trainings to continuously share guidance and best practices.
    • Help coordinate and develop 'ARCHIMED statements' and minimum standards on specific impact or sustainability-related topics (ex: animal testing, stem cells, diversity & inclusion, human rights, etc.).
    • Work with all ARCHIMED functions to consistently review and improve the process for integrating impact and sustainability into investment decision making; the systems and processes to manage and to measure impact and sustainability progress through on-going monitoring; and the partnerships and processes to assure impact and report results to ARCHIMED's investors.
    • Establish tools and framework to collect, monitor, manage, and coordinate impact and ESG data from across Funds, allowing for timely, accurate and consistent reporting and providing an overview to improve Funds' management of sustainability strategies (including monitoring carbon footprint reduction strategies at portfolio and Fund levels and ensure consistency with ARCHIMED reduction targets), selecting and partnering with third-party technical experts when necessary.
    • Execute the data analysis and interpretation and produce the sustainability and impact reports at the corporate level and impact funds level in alignment with industry standards and frameworks, with the ability to turn impact data into meaningful stories.
    • Contribute to manage the relationships with external partners to support the firm’s sustainability and impact practice.
    • Maintain an understanding of international best practice on impact management to ensure that the approach, policies and procedures remain best-in-class.
    • Provide expert guidance and sustainability and impact training for management, investment, and investor relations teams to enable deeper impact integration across the business.
    • Establish and manage a sustainability roadmap at corporate level across ARCHIMED offices.
    • Participate in, develop and support enhancement of the firm's reporting, sustainability and impact frameworks, investment processes and systems.

Requirements

Aptitudes and Skills we look for

  • Demonstrate a minimum of 4-6 years' experience building and executing sustainability strategies preferably within financial institutions, either in-house or through consulting positions.
  • Demonstrate concrete results of sustainability-related initiatives and strategies implemented.
  • Knowledge and understanding and hand-on experience of key frameworks and metrics in impact measurement methodologies and developing and reporting on impact metrics.
  • Previous experience or understanding of impact in healthcare and/or in the healthcare industries is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of a range of frameworks and regulations, such as: The Five Dimensions of Impact (formerly known as IMP), TCFD, SASB, SFDR, EU Taxonomy, SDGs, CSRD, with experience in helping investors/companies/clients prioritize and implement these.
  • Knowledge and experience in TNFD and biodiversity frameworks are a plus.
  • Strong analytical and methodological skills, with the ability to identify “right-fit” method, specific to each company's specific sector and needs and think in a commercial, creative, and pragmatic way.
  • Ability to engage with all functions, investment teams, management of portfolio companies and LP clients.
  • Demonstrable capability for independent judgment; ability to independently plan, organize and prioritize work.
  • Proven team player with demonstrable capability of mentoring junior staff; building working partnerships and promoting collaboration in the workplace.
  • Possess a genuine curiosity about the business with a keen interest in understanding the progress and drivers behind each of the operational functions.
  • Demonstrable commitment to impact investing and the values of ARCHIMED.
  • Strong organizational skills to handle a multitude of different topics and client requests.
  • Very well-organized and fast learner to manage the diversity of information internally and externally. Advanced Excel skills are a plus.
  • Team player with a collaborative mindset and positive, can-do outlook.
  • Solution focused with a positive constructive mind-set, taking pro-actively initiative.
  • Excellent relationship, communication and presentation skills.
