The Surf Team Lead plays an integral role in guest safety and guest experience both in and out of the water at Surf Ranch. Under the supervision of the Surf Team Supervisor, the Surf Team Lead ensures the Surf Team's day to day operations are executed to the standard expected by management and guests alike. The Surf Team Lead is responsible for holding all Surf guides accountable, mitigating labor, maintaining proper coverage for guest activations and upholding guest satisfaction. This position strives to be a liaison between the guests and the Surf Team ensuring the day to day surf operations are well staffed and maintained. The Surf Team Supervisor and the Surf Team Lead work closely to ensure all equipment, labor budgets, and guest satisfaction are upheld to the Surf Ranch standard. Serves as the face of the surf team. The team captain if you will.
Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Assist in executing on all pre-arrival information made available by the Manager of Surf Ops. & Guest Experience Coordinator.
- Ensure all Surf Team members are properly supported and prepared to host the days group
- Ensure proper coverage for all on-site activations pertaining to guests
- Satisfying guest needs or issues as they pertain to the Surf Team
- Ensure guests have access to their video footage of their time at Surf Ranch
- Assist in mitigating all overtime and meal penalties
- To ensure all Surf Team staff are attentive to all guest needs
- Assist in maintaining the daily surf schedule for guests
- Assist in maintaining employee station schedules
Qualifications
- Strong leadership skills
- Thorough understanding of the Surf Ranch guest schedule and business model
- Thorough understanding of the Surf Coach, and Surf Guide job descriptions
- Working knowledge of the Surf Ranch site and facility operations
- Excellent organizational skills
- One year previous experience of team management
- Ability to manage a small team and work in a group/team setting
- Surf Ranch specific water safety training
- Well rounded, experienced surfer (10 years minimum experience)
- Ability to coach and teach all levels of surfing

Physical requirements
- Physically able to swim, swim in rough and deep water, walk, run, walk or run over rough or uneven surfaces, bend, stoop, lift, push, pull, and carry loads.
- Must be able to swim at least 550 yards, dive at least 10 feet deep, swim with a 10 pound object for at least 20 yards, and tread water for at least 2 minutes.
- Must be able to watch and supervise groups in the ocean and/or bay while coaching technique and supervising safety.
- Must be able to recognize and respond to emergencies and prevent injuries or drowning.
