About the role:

Perthyn currently has a vacancy for a Supported Living Manager. The successful applicant will be based in our Powys Office and manage the support team working across 3 houses in the south of Powys near the town of Brecon.


With support from the Regional Manager, you will ensure that the support team you manage has the necessary skills and resources to help individuals with complex needs to live a fulfilled life, both at home and in the community. You will ensure consistency in the implementation of person centred support plans/ health plans/ behavioural support plans and work in partnership, especially with involved families, to achieve positive outcomes.

We want people to benefit from your expertise both as a manager and as a lead practitioner and therefore previous experience/ expertise in working with people who have mental health and communication needs as well as a learning disability would be desirable. You will be working with people who enjoy activities such as horse riding, swimming and theme parks and will be skilled in encouraging support teams to develop further community activities as well as involvement in meaningful tasks and skill development at home. Perthyn are committed to the ‘Active Support Model’, so the staff team will need your support to develop structured activity plans, sustaining a consistent approach which is reviewed and developed over time.


You will need to be skilled in managing external and internal relationships and have the resilience to support your team through difficult day to day situations. You will need to be able to assess and implement practice development and help involved parties through processes of change.


Reliability and flexibility are essential, as is holding a full driving licence as there is a requirement to travel within the region and complete regular on-call duties.

The role and the ideal candidate

  • We are looking for a dedicated, forward- thinking and resilient manager to work as part of a team of 3 Supported Living Managers in Powys.
  • You will need to have excellent problem-solving skills and be able to support the staff team in relation to complex behavioural and environmental issues. You will need to have active listening skills and the ability to use positive, calm, and clear communication.
  • You will work positively with other agencies, parents, Support Workers, and other services to ensure a quality provision of care for individuals.
  • Excellent teamworking and leadership are vital, with good communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships.
  • You will demonstrate resilience and empathy to effectively support your team members and the people they support.
  • You will be able to express yourself in writing and be able to complete and update support plans and risk assessments related to the people you will be supporting and staff.
  • You will have sound IT skills and be able to learn how to use different online platforms.
  • Reliability and flexibility are essential, as you will need to develop a presence with the staff you manage and the people you support.
  • You will hold a minimum QCF level 3 or equivalent and either hold or commit to achieving level 5.
  • You will have commitment to ongoing personal development.
